In partnership with GP Social Work Causeway and Northern Health and Social Care Trust we are holding a Dementia friendly cafe, weekly on a Wednesday 2.30- 4pm. The first day is Wednesday 13th August at Hope2Families long commons car park Coleraine! This is a relaxed environment where you and your loved one can call for a coffee, chat, support or advice! Everyone welcome!

A group of unpaid carers from the Causeway area came together with CARUS - a carers group based in the Coleraine area to enjoy a hot meal and a Take 5 session in the Flowerfields Arts Centre last week. Both groups were attending separate Watercolour painting workshops and the lunch was an opportunity to bring the two groups together in a social setting to encourage peer support and new friendships.

Some of these women said they have never received any support and were delighted to make invaluable connections with other carers as a result of the event.

We would like to thank Causeway Loneliness Network for funding from their Activity Programme to facilitate this event and we would also like to thank Marian Doherty from the Primary Care Multi Disciplinary Team in Killowen & Riverside Medical Practice for co-ordinating the event.
