What is a positive aspiration, and why do we aspirate during filler treatments?

Aspiration is when an injector gently pulls back on the syringe plunger before injecting filler. If blood enters the syringe, this is known as a positive aspiration. This indicates that the needle tip may be within a blood vessel.

A positive aspiration allows the injector to stop immediately, reposition, and avoid injecting filler into that vessel. While aspiration is not a guarantee of safety and does not always identify a vessel, it is one of several safety measures that can be used during treatment.

This is actually my first positive aspiration since I started injecting, and I wanted to share it as an educational example. It demonstrates that even the most careful, highly trained injector can encounter a blood vessel. The anatomy of every client is different, and blood vessels do not always sit exactly where we expect them to.

The key is not pretending complications can never happen. The key is having the knowledge, training, and emergency protocols in place to recognise potential issues early and act appropriately.

Patient safety will always come before anything else, and ongoing education, vigilance, and preparation are essential parts of responsible aesthetic practice.

A huge well done to the lovely Aaron, who joined us at Moo Lounge yesterday for his first training day! 🤍

Aaron spent the day learning microneedling and completed his very first set of classic lips.

We started with theory and plenty of practice on dummy lips before he watched and studied me carrying out two live demos. After that, it was time for him to put his new skills into action himself.

As you can see, the results speak for themselves — he's a natural! 👏💉💋

We are now looking for more models/clients for tomorrow (Thursday) for both Classic and Russian lip techniques.

Good morning my beautifuls 🤍

I know I’ve been a little slow with replies lately — life has definitely been testing me at the moment.

Due to some personal circumstances, I’ve had to put more focus into myself and my son over the last couple of weeks. As frustrating as that’s been, especially when Moo Lounge means so much to me and you’re all so lovely and supportive, family has had to come first for a little while.

Thankfully, that chapter will be coming to a close after this weekend, and I’ll be able to put my full energy back into everything surrounding Moo Lounge. many of you have messaged me both on here and privately, and I just want you to know I see every single one of them. I’ll be catching up and replying to everyone on Sunday.

Aaron will be joining us this week to begin his aesthetics training, so filler model spaces will be coming up soon 👀

Due to a lack of childcare for both myself and Mel, we have made the difficult decision to close the salon for the rest of the week.

Normally we would bring the kiddos into the salon with us, but with the current heat and how warm the salon gets, we just don’t feel it’s fair on the children.

All appointments will therefore be rearranged, and everyone affected will be contacted directly to book a new appointment.

We’re so sorry for any inconvenience caused, but family comes first. Thank you all so much for your understanding and continued support 💛
