A charity in Croydon dedicated working with disabled people for disabled people. RUTHERFORD SCHOOL is an Independent Special School for up to 25 children aged 3 – 19 years with profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD), severe sensory impairment and complex medical needs. The curriculum delivers bespoke education integrated with physiotherapy, hydrotherapy, rebound therapy, speech and lan

guage therapy, occupational therapy, music therapy and nursing care. The School has recently completed a new immersive learning space and separate sensory room both of which have been designed specifically to empower the pupils to effectively control their environment. JEAN GARWOOD HOUSE is a registered residential home for adults with a range of disabilities which prides itself on its sense of community. To meet their needs, the residents at the home are encouraged to lead as independent and sociable lives as possible with the support of the care team. BRAMLEY HILL CENTRE is a day centre for up to 60 adults aged 18 – 70+ with various disabilities such as cerebral palsy, degenerative and acquired disabilities. It provides a safe, friendly and supportive environment in which to enjoy social, educational and therapeutic activities and work opportunities.

Josh and Sam will be taking on the challenge in memory of their uncle Anthony, who sadly passed away just before Christmas. Anthony was a much-loved resident at Jean Garwood House, and this run is a tribute to his life and the impact he had on those around him ❤️

This year’s London Marathon isn’t just about the finish line — it’s about making a real difference.

Georgia is taking on 26.2 miles to raise vital funds for Garwood to ensure we can continue to support individuals and families every single day. From providing essential services to creating opportunities for independence, every pound raised helps change lives.

Georgia's brother Charlie attended Rutherford School, so she knows first hand how every penny helps.

"Rutherford School, played an instrumental role in the life of my late brother, Charlie Matthews.

Charlie attended Rutherford School for 16 years and the care, love and joy they gave him shaped some of the most treasured memories for our whole family. From the dedicated staff to the laughter-filled Sunshine Class, the school was a constant source of happiness in Charlie’s life. They provided not just learning, but a space where he could truly be himself, enjoying jazz music, food and sharing his infectious laugh with everyone around him."

“I'm running to raise vital funds for Garwood, a charity that is incredibly close to my heart. My son is a student at Rutherford School, which is part of the foundation. Garwood’s mission is to ensure that people with disabilities can live full, independent and happy lives.

Rutherford provides a truly life-changing, tailored curriculum for young adults with profound and multiple learning disabilities. For my son and his classmates it isn't just a school - it's a place where they receive the specialised therapies and expert support they need to express themselves and navigate the world.”
