Why do our CPD courses have entry requirements?

We’ve had lots of interest in our new Foundation in Manual Lymphatic Drainage and Brazilian MLD courses, including enquiries from people who don’t yet hold a Level 3 body massage or Anatomy, Physiology and Pathology qualification.

Although some training providers accept complete beginners onto short courses, Lymphaeum Education has made the considered decision not to remove our entry requirements.

CPD means Continuing Professional Development. It is designed to build upon a therapist’s existing knowledge and practical skills—not replace their initial practitioner training.

Our courses teach specialist lymphatic drainage techniques, but they do not teach all the foundations covered within a full Level 3 massage qualification. These include safe touch and pressure, palpation, positioning and draping, therapist body mechanics, consultation skills, hygiene, professional boundaries and the experience of safely treating the body.

A sound understanding of Anatomy, Physiology and Pathology is also essential. Therapists must be able to recognise contraindications, understand when treatment may be unsuitable and make safe, responsible decisions for every client.

Our entry requirements protect:

• the learner
• their future clients
• the integrity of the qualification
• their ability to obtain appropriate professional insurance

To enrol, learners must normally hold a recognised Level 3 Body Massage qualification, or an appropriate equivalent, which includes Level 3 Anatomy, Physiology and Pathology. Relevant healthcare and hands-on therapy qualifications may be considered individually.

We don’t want to discourage anyone beginning a new career. If you’re not qualified yet, this simply means completing your core practitioner training first. Once that foundation is in place, we would be delighted to welcome you onto one of our specialist CPD courses.

Brazilian MLD & Wood Therapy for Body Contouring - Enrolment now open

Our two-day CPD course combines flexible home study with a full day of practical, hands-on training in Darwen.

You’ll learn how to deliver a flowing Brazilian-style lymphatic drainage treatment before progressing to wood therapy techniques for body contouring. The course explores safe treatment planning, contraindications, client consultation and how to adapt techniques for different areas of the body.

Course structure:

Day 1 – Home study
Your theory materials can be started as soon as you have enrolled and paid.

Day 2 – Practical training
Saturday 17th October 2026
9am–5pm
Darwen, Lancashire

10 accredited CPD points

This course is ideal for qualified therapists who would like to introduce Brazilian MLD and wood therapy treatments to their clients with greater knowledge, confidence and professional understanding.

It’s been a busy couple of months of writing but finally got this one approved.

Day 3 morning is all about Post Op MLD. This afternoon our students will be working on post operative clients and clients with Lipoedema who have had debunking liposuction.
