I often have conversations with clients about the difference between wishing for change and creating change. Therapy can provide a space to explore intentions, identify goals, and break overwhelming challenges into manageable steps.
Progress rarely happens overnight, it grows through consistency, compassion, and small actions repeated over time 💫💚

The month of May is Mental Health Awareness Month, which aims to help us recognise the ways our mental health can impact our lives, what services are available, and encourages us to talk more openly about our mental health and feelings.

Mental health challenges can affect people of all ages and backgrounds, often in ways that are not always visible. Awareness is not only about recognising difficulties, but also about promoting compassion, understanding, and access to support.

This month, let’s continue to check in with ourselves and each other, listen without judgement, and remember that seeking support is a sign of strength, not weakness.

Did you know that today, the first Sunday in May, is Bereaved Mother’s Day?

A day for any mother who has lost a child, who carries them in their heart instead of their arms.

I have been reflecting quietly on this today.

This morning, I climbed Mount Errigal. A cold and foggy morning, but even then there is something about being up high, close to the sky, closer to heaven.

Conversations on the way home turned to motherhood, and how I have been on such a journey to get here, whilst all the while still grieving our infertility journey and how it all unfolded.

I have and will continue to honour my journey. To start appreciating what I can do, like climb mountains, instead of constantly focusing on what my body didn’t or couldn’t do for Toby 👼💚

So this Sunday evening, on Bereaved Mother’s Day, I would like to send love to all bereaved mothers, especially those who have been, or still are, living in the uncertainty of infertility, not knowing if motherhood will ever arrive in the way they hoped.

Be kind to yourself.

Honour your precious angels.

And always hold hope in your heart 💫💚

Let’s talk about consistency.

If you wanted to save money, you would consistently put a small amount away each week.
If you wanted to lose weight, you would consistently follow a nutrition, diet, or exercise plan to see results.
If you wanted to go for a walk, you would consistently put one foot in front of the other to move forward and reach your destination.

So please understand it is no different in therapy.

If you are trying to set boundaries after years of people pleasing,
if you are trying to show yourself compassion after years of self-doubt and criticism,
if you are trying to feel worthy after years of calling yourself a failure...

it is going to take consistency, patience, and practice.

It takes time to change habits.
It takes time to adjust thinking patterns.
It takes time to believe something different about yourself.

Healing happens by consistently taking one small, manageable step at a time.

Being consistent means doing it anyway
even on the days you don’t feel like it,
even on the days it feels uncomfortable,
even on the days progress feels slow.

Yes, there will be days it feels overwhelming.
There will be days it feels like too much.

On those days, remind yourself that you are human... and try again the next day.

Showing up for yourself is not always easy.
Being consistent is not always easy.

But it does work 💫💚
