SPF can be confusing so what do the number actually mean?
SPF stands for sun protection factor and measures how well a sunscreen protects your skin from UVB rays the main cause of sunburn.
SPF 15- blocks around 93% of UVB rays
SPF 30- blocks around 97%
SPF 50- blocks around 98%
No sunscreen will block 100%
Higher SPF still needs applying every 2hrs and after swimming or sweating it needs to be reapplied.
Most importantly, wear it everyday and wear enough of it!
UV exposure will contribute to premature ageing, pigmentation, collagen breakdown and skin cancer risk.
SPF should be considered as part of your skincare routine in the morning, not just for holidays or sunny days, your future skin will thank you.
