PERIMENOPAUSE | HORMONE HEALTH | WOMEN OVER 40 | BODY COMPOSITION
If I could tell my 35-year-old self one thing...
Your body was never the enemy.
Not when you felt bloated.
Not when you struggled with cravings.
Not when you gained weight.
Not when brain fog made you forget why you walked into a room.
And definitely not when you wanted the bread.
For years, I thought the answer was more discipline.
Eat less.
Train harder.
Push through.
Sleep later.
Do more.
But what I've learned as both a woman navigating perimenopause and a practitioner supporting other women is this:
Many of the symptoms we experience in our 40s don't suddenly appear overnight.
Perimenopause often shines a spotlight on what our bodies have been trying to tell us for years.
β¨ Chronic stress can affect progesterone, recovery and sleep.
β¨ Poor sleep can increase cravings, worsen insulin sensitivity and make brain fog feel even worse.
β¨ Muscle becomes more important as oestrogen declines because it supports metabolism, blood sugar regulation and healthy ageing.
β¨ Constant under-fuelling can leave us tired, hungry and reaching for food later in the day.
β¨ Boundaries aren't just good for your mental health. They're good for your hormones too.
The biggest lesson?
Perimenopause isn't always about doing more.
Sometimes it's about listening more.
More rest.
More strength.
More nourishment.
More self-respect.
Less punishment.
