How adorable is this little cutie? 😊

Mum shared some feedback with us on her labour:

"I would like to send a massive thank you to our wonderful midwife Katie, who was there for the safe arrival of our little girl 2 weeks ago.

"You were absolutely amazing throughout and I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect experience.

"Thank you so much xx"

The accolades just keep coming today - we are so lucky to have our midwives 🥺🥺

"Cooper-Ray & Cierra-Jean ❤️

"Sophie was my midwife through both my pregnancies & I cannot imagine either of them without her. She’s amazing. While delivering my daughter, I had a young blonde lady - I cannot remember her name but I was having a planned section and she made me feel at complete ease throughout it all, even whilst I cried she reassured me everything was fine. I’ll never forget her face in the time I needed someone the most.

"Also want to mention a lady who I was lucky enough to have looking after me & both my children after both deliveries. She went above & beyond both times - I genuinely could never forget her & how safe she made us all feel. Even when my partner had to go home after the delivery of our daughter due to being ill she was absolutely phenomenal. I believe her name was Ruth but I could be wrong. She deserves so much recognition it’s unbelievable.

"I had 2 student midwives delivering my children, Sophie was my student midwife along with midwife Zaki during the delivery of my son & I didn’t have a single ounce of fear due to feeling so safe in their care. They both did everything they could for us even through the rush of an emergency c-section ❤️"

“When I was five, my mum had my little brother, and I remember listening to his heartbeat. I think that was one of the first moments where I thought, ‘I want to look after babies’.” 💜

For Midwife Alex, working in maternity was always the dream.

Now based at Doncaster Royal Infirmary, Alex joined DBTH in 2024 after studying Midwifery at the University of Hull and has already supported the delivery of more than 100 babies.

But for Alex, midwifery is about so much more than birth alone.

“I feel so fortunate that I get to look after women throughout their pregnancy and postpartum… it really is such a rewarding role and an honour.”

Thank you to Alex and all of our incredible maternity colleagues who support women, babies and families every single day ✨

It’s not just mums and birthing parents who experience postnatal depression. Dads and non-birthing parents can do too.
Signs of depression can include:
• often feeling irritable or angry
• finding it hard to concentrate
• feeling guilty or hopeless
• thinking that you’re not a good enough parent.
Speak to your GP or Healthy Family Team if you’re feeling very stressed and finding it hard to cope.

You may find it helpful to access the Partner Wellbeing Check Tool. A quick, simple, and anonymous questionnaire to help you find services and information to support you with your mental health and wellbeing:

As many as 1 in 5 women have mental health problems in pregnancy or after birth. It can happen to anyone. You are not alone. You are not to blame, and with support and help, things will get better.

There is lots of help available. This could be online resources, such as Netmums

We have another heartfelt shout-out to share, this time for midwife Brooke and student midwife Jess:

"I have seen it’s international midwife day and wanted to share my incredible experience with my two midwives back in November.

"They were absolutely amazing, calm, caring and I felt in the safest hands after going into labour quicker than planned. They even came down to see me the morning after I had my daughter.

"Forever grateful for the experience with them both, I will never forget them. Thank you for the amazing work you all do🥰x"
