“The best revenge is not to be like that.”
A remarkable idea.
When someone is dishonest, cruel, selfish, or unkind, the temptation is to respond in kind.
To strike back.
To make them feel what they made you feel.
But every act of retaliation carries a hidden cost.
You risk becoming shaped by the very thing that wounded you.
The higher path is not weakness.
It is discipline.
To remain generous in a world that can be harsh.
To remain honest when deception would be easier.
To remain kind without becoming naive.
The best revenge is not retaliation.
It is remaining uncorrupted by what hurt you.
