This Monday the 14th sees the start of the National Kidney Patient Survey, previously known as the "PREM". The survey covers the whole of the UK and gives patients the opportunity to provide feedback on how they feel about their care. Just as importantly the results inform the team how their patients feel about their care and where improvements can be made. It also allows the UKRR to build up a national picture of peoples' experience of their care.

The survey can be completed on line, a link will be posted here next week, and paper copies will be made available at the units, just ask your nurse or doctor for a copy.

Once more, please take a few minutes to respond, your opinion matters.

Thank you

NHS Tayside would like to make you aware of Kidney Beam, an online exercise and lifestyle platform for people living with kidney disease, including polycystic kidney disease, dialysis patients, transplant patients, and people with other forms of kidney disease.
Your clinical team may offer you a referral to Kidney Beam as an optional source of support. Participation is entirely your choice.
Kidney Beam provides access to a 12-week online programme of exercise and education, together with health coaching support. The programme aims to help people improve physical activity levels, learn more about diet and lifestyle, and develop confidence in managing their condition.

Being physically active may help support physical and mental wellbeing and may help people living with kidney disease maintain their overall health.

If you decide you would like to take part, your clinical team at NHS Tayside can help you register with the Kidney Beam website and health coaching service.
Once registered, a Kidney Beam health coach will contact you by email (please check your junk mail folder) to arrange an introductory telephone appointment.
Following this appointment, Kidney Beam will suggest exercise and education options based on your health status and level of ability.
Online classes can be completed at home, at times that suit you.

If you have any questions about Kidney Beam, speak to your medical professional who will be able to help.

Finally we have Lyn, a transplant patient who not only was competing in the British Transplant Games in Sheffield recently but she won a gold medal in tennis !
Although Lyn is a Tayside patient she is also a member of the Edinburgh Adults Transplant Team. In fact she is the only Tayside patient in the team and is keen to encourage more taysiders to join her. You don't have to be a recipient, donors, carers and supporters can take part too.
Next years games take place in Birmingham at the end of August, Lyn has said she would be happy to speak to anyone who is considering taking part.
In her own words: "It is such an enjoyable and inspiring event, paying tribute to donors and raising awareness of the benefits of the gift of life."

This is a short message from our friends in the Tayside Kidney Patients Association:

Every dialysis patient should have an invite to join our 200 Club, which is our biggest fundraiser.
There are also three Prize Bingo events coming up.
The TKPA has helped fund two successful events so far this year and would like to hold further events in the future. If you've attended either of these then you'll know how much fun they were. But to continue to run these events we need your support. You can do this by buying 200 club tickets or you can also support us by donating prizes for the bingo. DM this account for details on how to pay/donate.
