SBPCA 5th Annual Conference, Leeds, June 2026.

What a day!
On Saturday 20 June, Sudanese family doctors from across the UK came together at the Mercure Leeds Parkway Hotel for the Sudanese British Primary Care Association's 5th Annual Conference — and it was clear: SBPCA has moved well beyond its founding years into a new era of institutional strength and impact.
A packed day of learning, connection, and celebration featured:

🎤 Mustafa Mukhtar Ibrahim – Unwritten Rules: The Invisible Career Curriculum No One Teaches You.

🤖 Dr Dave Hindmarsh – Quality Improvement & Safety in Primary Care Using AI.

💰 Nouran Moustafa – Doctor's Guide to Money, Mortgages & Financial Planning Ahead.

🤝 Tista Chakravarty-Gannon (GMC) – Collaborating for Compassion.

📖 Dr John Launer – How Not to Be a Doctor: Stories of Right and Wrong.

Plus hands-on workshops on practical AI tools, becoming a trainer, and plans for the upcoming International Sudanese Family Medicine Conference in Sudan, 2027 — a major step toward addressing Sudan's urgent shortage of family doctors.

From GP educational sessions to an evening dinner, prizes, and, for the first time, a family social gathering and activities the next day.

The 5th Annual Conference was a true celebration of community, growth, and shared purpose.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to the success of our Mothers’ Awareness Session: Safeguarding Our Children in the UK.
The event created a safe and supportive space for mothers and families to better understand child safeguarding, social services, family rights, and how to confidently engage with schools and official agencies in the UK.
We are especially grateful to the Social and Community Outreach and academic offices of the Sudanese British Primary Care Association (SBPCA) for organising such an impactful and meaningful event and to all the speakers and attendees who shared their knowledge, questions, and experiences.
Together, through awareness and community support, we can better protect and empower our children and families. 🌸

نتقدم بجزيل الشكر والتقدير لكل من حضر وساهم في إنجاح جلسة التوعية للأمهات بعنوان:
"حماية أطفالنا في المملكة المتحدة".

لقد وفّرت الجلسة مساحة آمنة وداعمة للأمهات والأسر لفهم أفضل لمفاهيم حماية الطفل، ودور الخدمات الاجتماعية، وحقوق الأسر، وكيفية التعامل بثقة مع المدارس والجهات الرسمية في بريطانيا.

كما نتقدم بخالص الامتنان لمكتب التواصل الاجتماعي والمجتمعي والمكتب الأكاديمي بالجمعية السودانية البريطانية للرعاية الصحية الأولية (SBPCA) على جهودهم الكبيرة في تنظيم هذا الحدث القيّم والهادف. والشكر موصول لجميع المتحدثين والحضور على مشاركاتهم الثرية ونقاشاتهم البنّاءة وتبادل الخبرات.
