How do I come up with my story/activities bags?

As you know I love using my story/activities bags in my Conductive Education sessions.

I think they are great for tool for motivation and learning.

There is a couple of ways I come up with them.

It can start with a book and I can see the array of learning opportunities that can come from it.

This is what happened for my The Tiger Who Came To Tea story bag. I loved the story and knew I would be able to find lots of fun activities that would support the story.

Or I can have a look at what resources I currently own and realise there is a theme and it's all about finding the perfect book to go with these resources to support learning.

This is what happened with my Farm Animals activity bag. I realised I had lots of farm animal resources and they could all go together to support learning and create a sensory farm animal experience. I am still looking for a book to go with this activity bag. If you have any ideas please let me know.

I try to make sure all my story and activities bags are full of fun, motivational learning opportunities for all my little learners. I am constantly assessing and analysing them to make sure this is true. For example how long a game takes to set up or its accessibility for the learner.

We all have our own strengths, knowledge and skills that all contribute to support the children we work with.

We all have the exact same mission, to support the children we work with to bloom and grow,

Hiya, I'm Rachel!

​I thought I’d say a little hello and reintroduce myself.

​I am a qualified Conductive Education Specialist that is Portage and Makaton trained based in Durham. I support children and adults across the North East, with the development of their movements, play, and learning.

I believe everyone has the ability to learn, grow and develop skills.

My goal is to support you and your family in a fun, positive and supportive environment.

In sessions tasks are appropriate and are broken down into small achievable goals.

Sessions are filled with fun playful tasks that help support the development of their:

Gross and fine motor skills
Educational goals
Play skills
Social and Communication skills
