As parents, we all want the very best for our children while also trying to protect our own wellbeing. When sleep is difficult, it can be tempting to turn to “quick fixes” or online advice promising fast results.

However, a recent BBC report has highlighted concerns around unqualified “infant sleep experts” sharing misguided and, in some cases, potentially dangerous advice.

It’s so important that families feel confident about who they turn to for support. Medical and developmental advice should come from appropriately qualified professionals who understand child development, work within their professional boundaries, and provide evidence-based guidance.

As a registered children’s nurse with more than 25 years of experience — including working as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Paediatric Sleep Medicine within the NHS — I created to offer families compassionate, evidence-based support when they feel overwhelmed or unsure where to turn.

Over the years, I’ve supported many families who previously spent large amounts of money on “sleep training” programmes that left them feeling unsupported and frustrated. Advice such as drastic diet changes or rigid bedtime adjustments often failed because every child and every family is different.

There is no one-size-fits-all approach to children’s sleep.

My aim is always to provide reassurance, practical support, and evidence-based guidance tailored to your child and your family’s unique needs — helping you move forward with confidence and compassion.

This week, many families found out which school their little one will be starting in September ❤️

Some are celebrating their first choice… others may be feeling a little disappointed. And for many, it’s a mix of emotions.

Because how is it possible that the tiny person you once held is now ready for school? Where has the time gone?

Starting school is a big transition. New routines, new rules, new friendships—it can be exciting, but also overwhelming and exhausting for children.

And this is where sleep really matters.

Teachers are increasingly seeing the impact of poor sleep in the classroom—affecting concentration, learning, behaviour, and even friendships.

Good quality sleep can make all the difference in helping your child feel settled, confident, and ready to learn.

If you’re worried about your child’s sleep before they start school, I’m here to help.
