Heart Cells Foundation

Heart Cells Foundation Heart Cells Foundation was set up by Jenifer and Ian Rosenberg. In 2003 Ian was given just 2 months to live. Sadly, Ian died on 25th August 2006, aged 70.

UK charity celebrating 20 years of funding stem cell research, and in 2016, the launch of the 'Compassionate Treatment Unit for Heart Failure', at St Bartholomew’s Hospital in London. 🇬🇧❤️ It was then that he heard about cardiac stem cell therapy and travelled to Germany to receive treatment. On his return, Ian Rosenberg’s quality of life was improved and he was shocked to find no patient trials o

f the procedure in the UK. He then decided to set up the Heart Cells Foundation, alongside Jenifer, to raise money to fund ground-breaking cardiac stem cell trials at Barts and London NHS Trust. To this day Jenifer continues to campaign to make this treatment available to all on the NHS, for she is determined to make her late husband’s dream become a reality.

Looking after your heart doesn’t stop at the end of the workday 💓

According to cardiologists, a few simple evening habits may help support better heart health over time:

🚶‍♀️ Taking a short walk after dinner to support circulation and blood sugar levels
🧘‍♀️ Making time to properly relax and reduce stress
🥜 Choosing healthier evening snacks over ultra-processed foods
😴 Sticking to a consistent bedtime routine to support recovery and blood pressure

Small daily choices can make a meaningful difference when it comes to protecting your heart.

Which of these habits do you already do regularly? ✨

Stories like Andrew’s are such an important reminder that heart attacks don’t just affect us physically - they can have a lasting emotional impact too 💓

On Race Across The World, Andrew opened up about how his heart attack affected his confidence, mental health, and outlook on life, as he travelled across Mongolia with his daughter Molly.

Three years later, he described the experience as his way of finally “moving on” from what happened.

Recovery isn’t always just about the heart itself. It’s also about rebuilding confidence, finding hope again, and proving to yourself what’s still possible.

Stories like these help encourage more open conversations around heart health and recovery ❤️

So what are stem cells? 🩺

These remarkable cells have the ability to develop into different specialised cell types and help repair damaged tissue - making them one of the most promising areas of regenerative medicine.

At the Heart Cells Foundation, we’re supporting research into how stem cell therapy could help repair damaged heart tissue and improve the lives of people living with heart failure, alongside funding the unique compassionate unit at St. Bartholomew's Hospital treating patients on compassionate grounds.

With continued support and funding, we move one step closer to making these treatments more widely available in the future. Donate here: https://www.heartcellsfoundation.com/donate/
