We loved having Lucy Edwards at our recent Connect event.

Lucy lost her sight at seventeen, went on to become an award-winning BBC journalist, a Blind Barbie ambassador, and has 1.8 million followers on TikTok, all while making the case that representation and lived experience aren't optional extras.

She talked to us about everything from guide dogs to Barbies to braille on shampoo bottles, and why it matters who's in the room when decisions are made.

Cataracts are one of the most common causes of sight loss, but many people aren't sure what to look out for.

Some of the earliest signs include sensitivity to glare, double vision, and gradual blurring, often first noticed when driving at night.

The good news is that in most cases, cataracts can be successfully treated with surgery. And regular eye tests are one of the best ways to catch them early.

We've put together a simple guide to help you understand cataracts, including symptoms, diagnosis, and treatment options.

Almost 194,000 people in Scotland are living with sight loss that affects their daily life. And that number is projected to rise to over 234,000 by 2036.

Behind every one of those numbers is a person. A family. A life that looks different because of sight loss.
That's why the work Sight Scotland does across Scotland matters, and why we're here seven days a week supporting people to live the lives they want to live.

If you or someone you know is affected by sight loss, we're here to help.

A few weeks ago we asked: what if the most powerful way to give a young person a voice wasn't through words at all?

Next week at the Children in Scotland Annual Conference, we're sharing the answer.

Unseen stories. Creative expression. And a medium you might not expect.

Earlier we shared some tips for making your social media more accessible. But what about your emails?

Most of us send them every day, and small formatting choices can make a real difference for people living with sight loss.

Five things worth checking:

- Use clear headings so screen readers can navigate easily
- Choose an accessible font like Arial or Calibri at size 14 or above
- Check for good colour contrast between text and background
- Add descriptive alt text to any images
- Make link text meaningful, not just "click here"

5 simple ways to make your emails more accessible for people with visual impairment. With at least 2.2 billion people globally having a visual impairment, it is vital that individuals and organisations take steps to ensure their emails are accessible and inclusive.
