A huge thank you to all our L&G team members who joined us for our **Summer Fun Day**, celebrating an incredible milestone — **200 years of Scotland’s oldest pharmacy at Elm Row!** 🥳

From fun activities and great food to plenty of laughs, we had a fantastic time celebrating together. And, of course, the Scottish weather even managed to stay dry and warm enough! ☀️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Lindsay & Gilmour Celebrates 200 Years at Historic Elm Row Pharmacy

Lindsay & Gilmour marked a remarkable milestone on 10 June, celebrating 200 years of continuous service at its historic Elm Row pharmacy in Edinburgh.

Guests including pharmacy leaders, colleagues, local stakeholders and Scotland's Chief Pharmaceutical Officer, Alison Strath, gathered to commemorate what is believed to be Scotland's oldest continuously operating pharmacy.

Our Chairman Nigel Cu***ng reflected on the pharmacy's origins in 1826 and its evolution from a traditional chemist and druggist into a modern community pharmacy. A specially commissioned portrait by esteemed artist Freya Cu***ng was unveiled during the event, celebrating the branch's rich heritage.

Alison Strath praised the organisation's contribution to healthcare across Scotland, describing its 200-year history as "a legacy of care, trust and unwavering commitment."

Founded by Robert Lindsay and later joined by William Gilmour, the business has grown to operate 32 pharmacies across Central Scotland and the Borders. Despite this growth, Elm Row remains the symbolic heart of the organisation, continuing to serve patients while preserving its unique historical character.

The celebration recognised not only the pharmacy's distinguished past but also its ongoing commitment to community healthcare for generations to come.
