KSDE's August Newsletter
Greetings dear Friends of KSD Edinburgh,
As Edinburgh is super busy hosting its annual array of Festivals, we take this opportunity to close our doors during the month of August for the Summer Break. This gives us time out to rest and recharge, as well as to repair the beautiful, historic, A Listed building that is our home and in constant need of TLC!

Should the Bodhisattva spirit move you, please feel free to make a wee donation, be it financial, or with resources, or through volunteer service. All are most welcome and much appreciated : )

We re-open in September with a new Autumn Term Programme, to be posted online in the coming weeks, so watch this space. Meanwhile, there's a wealth of teachings, being given in August, by the head of the Kagyu Lineage, His Holiness the 17th Gyalwa Karmapa, see details below. And of course you can also access a wide range of Dharma teachings, whether you're a beginner or an experienced practitioner, via our Online Courses at: edinburgh.samye.org

The Joy of Dharma in July and beyond...
As July's flowers open in the summer sunshine,
may we open to joyfully receive the awakening energy of the Buddha Dharma's purifying light.

Following Akong Rinpoche's invaluable advice to "keep it simple", by slowing down and tuning in to our natural potential, KSD Edinburgh endeavours to do just that, with a Summer Season of Guided Meditations, Dharma Teachings, Pujas and Courses.

*May the joy be with you*

The Journey to Inner Space and Peace

Discovering our Buddha Nature
The beautiful Thanka below, by Sherab Palden Beru, shows the primordial Buddha Vajradhara, depicted as blue to represent the sky like space of Buddha nature present in all sentient beings.

In today's troubled world of confusion and the sufferings of Samsara, we need to connect more than ever with our true potential. Why settle for less! With that in mind we are pleased to offer our JUNE PROGRAMME 2026 featuring regular, weekly Guided Meditations, Pujas and Dharma teachings. In particular, for those of you who have studied The Four Preliminary Foundations and have also taken Refuge, Ani Rinchen Khandro will give an overview of The Four Extraordinary Foundations in preparation for the path of Mahamudra.

Accessible to all are the priceless teachings of our Founder, Akong Rinpoche, whose wisdom and advice are given in Chapter 7 of Restoring the Balance, on the topic of Coordination and Harmony of Body, Speech and Mind. Rinpoche's words cut through the mindless, dehumanising effects of unfettered tech and AI and allow us the breathing space to mindfully look within, for our natural intelligence to blossom with joy and equilibrium.
