THE GENEROSITY OF PLANTS. 🌼🧡

Have you ever noticed, really noticed... just how generous the plants are!?
Not only in their medicine, nourishment and abundance but also their incredible, mesmerising, sometimes hypnotic beauty. Their giving truly never ends.

Spent an absolutely gorgeous evening in my healing herb garden with Joey and our resident Robin. Just sitting, looking (really looking!), smelling, listening, being. And honestly, this is as much part of the healing the plants offer us as the actual medicinal compounds in the physical plant material that we make into herbal medicines. It's all so valuable!

I urge you to spend a little time, especially now we have real sunshine, observing just one plant on a slower, deeper level when you're next outside. I promise you won't regret it ❤️🙏

Hiya! It's me! I'm doing OK!
So here I am, yer average 40 year old scruffy haired being, often with twigs in my hair, flowers in my pocket and soil on my hands/face. Never far away from Joey boy 🐾 or the sea. Navigating... one of the most difficult things in my life 🙏

Never did I think I'd have to face as difficult a time with my health as what I have the last year, particularly the last 8 months. Unknown, unpredictable, so scary. Debilitating at times. I became unrecognisable for a while. Finally I feel like I'm moving forward yet I know this has been a full life overhaul and I'm very much in recovery for the time being. Im feeling good though - long may it last! (And the healing sun 🌞 long may she shine on us!!).

This journey of recovery is massively sponsored by my plants and herbal medicines. I'm extremely lucky to be surrounded by wisdom in lots of forms and experienced people in the natural medicine world that are guiding me. The big traumas in life like this really elevate our consciousness

All of this is giving me a new way of life, experience to pass on in my own herbal medicine practice and building me up to be stronger than before.
Authenticity is a big thing for me and I'll always be open. My capacity this year isn't alot, I'm more inwards than usual... I'm doing my best! But in this slowness I'm gaining more than I ever dreamed.
Smiling today (and very happy with my new recipe for a herbal sea salt spray for hair!).

ROSE TINCTURE & A WEE NOTE ABOUT EMOTIONAL WELLNESS 🌹❤️

The vibrancy of my Rose tincture is stunning! Harvested from the Rosa rugosa (Wild rose) from this beachfront which is also my doorstep!
This is one of 2 tinctures going into a blend for someone who needs to work on self-love and to rid old grief that is hard to shift from the body.
I don't use tinctures very often as I'm a self sufficient herbalist and many people now don't want alcohol extracts, but I'm never without 3 very healing tinctures - Rose, Hawthorn and Motherwort - all of which I grow and harvest in my herb garden or locally forage for medicine making.

Supporting people with emotional health is a real focus of mine and I just love being able to offer beautifully healing herbal medicines to help in this way. I particularly love working with Hydrosols (medicinal plant waters), flower essences, infusions/tea blends and bespoke oil blends.
I do this as a donation based offering (there's a suggested donation depending on the remedies made - for the herbs grown, harvested and alchemised into medicines) and it's an honour to work in this way with people and plants. So many people need this, now more than ever!

Crikey! The Skin Healing Hero salve flew out the door (see my last post!). Making a new batch today for anyone who didn't get the chance to snap one up.
Absolutely gorgeous and a real skin treat leaving it on overnight.

Here's one of the mesmerising steps in the making of this healing salve - infusion of Calendula, Chickweed and Nettle into Grapeseed Oil, will then be combined with Bay infused Olive Oil then organic beeswax and Frankincense essential oil. Voila! 🧡🌼

SKIN HEALING HERO!
When it's sunny outside, its sunny in the Herb & Soul Apothecary 🌞🌼🏵🌻🌿

I've been making medicines galore recently and have loved crafting 'Skin Healing Hero'.
I've extracted, infused and blended home grown or locally foraged healing plants Bay, Calendula, Chickweed and Nettle with nourishing Grapeseed oil and organic Olive Oil along with Frankincense essential oil for self love.

- a gorgeous smooth salve for skin repair and brightening. Helpful with any skin irritations, bites, stings, burns, to smooth and nourish 'crepey' skin under eyes or around the face, dry hands or cracked lips... anything really! A heal-all saviour product for sure.
I made a batch of 12 of these on Wednesday and have only 3 left. £10.

🌿 Passionflower, Self-Heal, Mullein, Skullcap and Bay 🌿

A STUNNING tea blend I made for a lovely patient for support on an emotional level. Blended to help process and release deeply engrained grief, to come into oneself and see the clearest way forward without anxiety and to help disturbed sleep. I just adore how generous the plants are in their beauty. Every blend looks, smells and tastes incredible, otherworldly.

I am so happy using my energy to create healing medicines for people, this is my happiest of places and way of being. Grown, harvested and blended with knowledge, intention, care and personalisation. An absolute privilege, delight and honour 😊

I have to say a huge thanks for all the support I've received and understanding for this wee pause I'm having to take to focus on my health, much appreciated! 💚🌿
Whist I've been slower, Joey and I have spent lots of time in the Herb & Soul healing herb garden, simply being with our plants and learning from them. Sometimes that's taking deeper time to look at them, take in their beauty and aroma, experience them growing up and coming into their full energies. Teaching us. It's so lush and fragrant right now!

Simply being with them is enough to hear their message, if I'm slow enough to hear it (big message in there 😉👌).
They are so generous in so many ways! And especially generous in my healing at this moment in time.
Thank you green beings!
(And how beautiful is my boy in amongst it all!?)

Sadly this is not the post I expected to be putting out there just weeks after launching my seasonal workshops...

This might come as a shock and has been such a difficult decision but with so much despair I have to postpone my workshop series at Preston Mill for a wee while.

I'm facing a challenging situation with my health, something that's difficult to navigate and in order to recover as quickly as possible, I need to take a pause and work deeply with my body, mind and herbal medicines. Thankfully I know it's just a pause and by taking this time, I'll be back in full force!

Positive note... this is teaching me more than I ever dreamed - making me a better herbalist and teacher of the plant medicines.
I am spending alot of this slower time growing, listening, medicine making and supporting people with bespoke herbal blends. I'm so grateful for that! A true privilege!

Self-Heal (Prunella vulgaris)

Looks like I'll be working closely with Self Heal this year... 21 very cute babies have just made their cosy home in the Herb & Soul healing herb garden, watched over lovingly by the motherly Mullein that is growing beside them 💚🌿

Self-Heal (sometimes called All Heal for very good reasons!) is one of our native wild plant healers, you can find out all about it on my upcoming events where we harvest and make herbal medicine together.

Big thanks to my friend Nick who's a countryside ranger in my area for gifting me some babies! All of my healing plants have come from my Plant Medicine school or fellow herbalists who have passed them over with much love which comes through into the medicines I make.
