On Tuesday 22nd September 2026, PHL Group joined employers and organisations from across the South East at a ceremony at the Army Flying Museum in Middle Wallop, Hampshire, to celebrate the Employer Recognition Scheme Gold Awards, the Ministry of Defence's highest badge of honour for supporting the Armed Forces Community.

We are proud to be one of the 20 organisations across the South East who received their Gold Award this year.

Thanks to Chief People Officer for PHL Group, Katie Stephens and PHL Group's Veterans Champion Sean Jenkins who proudly accepted the Gold Award on behalf of PHL Group from His Majesty's Lord -Lieutenant of Hampshire, Mr Nigel Atkinson.

Today is World Patient Safety Day and this year's focus could not be more relevant to what we do every day at PHL Group.

The 2026 campaign, led by the World Health Organization, centres on safe care for noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) such as cardiovascular disease, cancer, diabetes and chronic respiratory conditions. These conditions account for 74% of deaths worldwide, and the people living with them often need ongoing, lifelong care, which means more touchpoints with health systems and more opportunities for things to go wrong.

At PHL Group, this sits right at the heart of what we believe. Truly Care means putting the person receiving care first, always. Team First means recognising that safety is never one person's job, it depends on everyone working together across every part of the system. And Pioneering Innovation means we keep looking for better, safer ways to deliver care rather than settling for how things have always been done.

This World Patient Safety Day, we're standing with WHO and health systems around the world in calling for stronger, more integrated care for people living with NCDs, and for patients to be treated as genuine partners in their own safety.

Our Police Custody Healthcare team had a great day at the UKAFN conference today, where the focus was 'Substance Misuse and Vulnerability'.

The conference looked at how substance misuse links to wider vulnerabilities such as trauma, exploitation, mental ill health, neurodivergence and homelessness, and what this means for people in police custody and Sexual Assault Referral Centre pathways.

It was a great opportunity to learn from others in the sector and talk about how, together, we can keep improving care for some of the people who need it most.

This kind of collaborative working is close to our hearts at PHL Group. Truly Care and Team First are two of our core values, and days like today remind us why they matter so much.

Last Friday, the PHL Group team headed to Portsmouth for a Charity Horse Race Night, raising money for Mind, our corporate charity of 2026.

The evening was a lot of fun, from the races themselves to the raffle, and together we raised over £1,000 for Mind, a fantastic charity doing vital work to support people experiencing mental health problems.

PHL Group has been awarded Gold in the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme!

We are incredibly proud of this achievement, which recognises the support we provide to our Armed Forces community, including veterans, reservists and their families.

Reaching Gold means so much for PHL Group. It shows our commitment to making sure veterans are seen, heard and supported, not just when they join us, but throughout their whole career with our business. It reflects the kind of company we want to be, one that Truly Cares about its people and always puts Team First.

We want to say a huge thank you to Sean Jenkins, our Veteran Champion, who has been instrumental in taking us from Bronze all the way to Gold. Sean's passion and hard work have made a real difference to our veteran community, and this achievement would not have been possible without him.
