step 1: cut two I strips. Measure from top of thigh to top of knee cap. place knee into 80-90 degree of flexion. start tape (anchor) at 0% tension approx 2 inch, at the patella inferior (the dip below knee and shin) then just anchor slightly off midline take the tape up the leg laterally on knee cap border with 50- 75% stretch then end the last 2-3 inch no tension, top of thigh. repeat do the same medial.
Step 2: measure another two I strips across leg above knee cap (approx 5-6 squares) put leg flat with 10degree flexion( bend in knee) then break tape in middle downward pressure 50% tension on border of top knee cap and then each end under or back of thigh with 0% tension. then send tape over lap slightly in this tape and repeat
Step 3: if have patella pain as well cut another two I strips similar length to step 2, with knee in slight flexion break tape in the middle with downward pressure and 50% tension place tape at patella inferior cupping knee cap and take tape up and ending above knee crease with 0% tension on ends. second I strip over lap slightly and repeat.
this taping will help activate quadriceps, reduce pressure on tendon incision points and help with isometric and leg loading and reduce pain.
