Out on The Land 🌸

Sometimes it’s as simple as that 🌱🌱

Friday early morning start as we set off at 5.30am from Cusco to go spend a few days with ‘Abuelo’ 💖

He was kind with clear skys and sunny weather and we set up camp.

I’ve been many times for day trips and also overnight down in the small pueblo at the foot of the trail but this was different.

The silence of the place, only the babbling of the small river close by, the sound of the odd bird and in the distance, hearing the odd rock fall from his great mountain body, was like a salve for the soul.

Both Jaco and I felt something so comforting there, I remembered my own grandfather who passed when I was 6, who used to ask me to ‘comb his hair’ even though he was bald and had bit a few hairs 🤭☺️

There was a tangible feel to the energy of this Apu, different to what I’d felt when receiving karpay and bringing others. It was much more like family, I received the message several times over our weekend there ‘slow down, you have time, we have time’.

We met an old lady who came and sat with us and chatted away in quechua. I was sad I didn’t understand her, but was able to share a few words that I know from my training. We shared cica, made kintus and I gave her a little gold llama I had in my misa.

As she left I made an intention that next, I would learn some basic Quechua 🤓

Jaco and I walked up further into the base of Ausangate and offered despacho, later I made some notes, offered a Buddhist sadhana I’d taken with me.

The overwhelming feeling I had here was that everything arrived as it should, that time in slow silence with nature rejuvenates us but also ‘speaks’. This is such a simple concept but its truth percolated through my being.

It’s something of a core principle that’s arriving in what I offer, it feels simple, but the remembrance is more profound and much needed by us all.

So I just completed a 12 day journey with a lovely soul and as always, there were many things that arrived for me as a space holder and fellow journeyer.

Because the journey wasn’t just an offering for another, but an experience of walking beside her, holding space, recognising what might be of help, inviting curiosity and so much more.

The journey reminded me of two main things:

1. We are always in interaction with someone, either an external person or more, or with ourselves. Our experience is never in isolation.

2.We often have partly ‘planned or anticipated’ what’s coming.

It may not seem that way, but through the lens of anticipation, do we really consciously come to an experience from a place of complete surrender?

I wonder, can you think back over the last week or longer and recognise where you may have already had some level of expectation of either yourself or another, that maybe didn’t give room for what ACTUALLY wanted to unfold?

The practice of surrender doesn’t have to be all at once, but just a willingness to stay a little more open, it can be more profound than you think!

Day 10

In the morning we walked the unusual site of Sillustani, with its great burial towers or ‘chulpas’ and a circular three levelled space representing the sun and a smaller, the moon.

But what was the wider use of this site? Not just a cemetery, a similar question to the pyramids in Egypt.

We went on to walk over the spine of the puma and serpent, viewed the ‘family’ stones or apparently the locals see a different meaning, that of a couple getting married with the musicians behind them! The ‘Sacred Casa’.

And we finished with a ceremony of cleansing and connection at the Aramu Meru doorway/portal known as the Wilca Uta, connecting to the doorway to the stars and our wider galactic family ✨💎💖

Day 9

We travelled to the Isle of Amantani, first stopping to offer flowers and kintus to Lake Titicaca as a gift and asking for blessing before entering the larger part of the lake.

We could see Apu Illimani on the horizon and the crescent of the moon in the day sky above 🌙

The pachatata and pachamama temples on the island are offerings to the harmony of both masculine and feminine and we finished at the pachamama temple with offering our kintus at the temple gate and a circle of rose petals and our joined hands to send off into the cosmos our love, blessings and wishes.
