A lazy Sunday morning near the Devonshire Arms — sheep resting under a beautiful old tree, fresh air, green fields, a bacon butty and a pot of tea in a tearoom.

Sometimes it really is the simple things that help us feel refreshed.

Walking in nature does not have to be a big hike or a fitness challenge. It can simply be a gentle stroll, noticing the trees, the hills, the water, the birds, and giving your mind a little space to breathe.

For me, mornings like this are a reminder that wellbeing is not just about food or exercise. It is also about connection, fresh air, friendship, slowing down, and doing something that helps you feel like yourself again.

Health is wealth — and sometimes wealth looks like a Sunday walk, a warm cup of tea, and good company.

The greatest wealth is health.

Sometimes life gives us a reminder that we cannot keep pouring from an empty cup.

When stress, change or overwhelm take over, the basics can slip — nourishing food, water, rest, movement, and connection. Yet these are often the very things that help us begin to feel steady again.

Rebuilding does not happen all at once. It happens in small increments.

One glass of water.
One simple meal.
One short walk.
One supportive conversation.
One decision to begin again.

Supportive Friends can be such a gift — the ones who gently remind us to eat, rest, breathe, and take the next small step.

As a nutrition and health coach, I believe health is not just about what is on the plate. It is also about strength, resilience, support, and learning how to care for ourselves when life feels heavy.

Health is wealth because without our wellbeing, everything else feels harder.

Fewston Reservoir, Yorkshire 🌿

Few days ago I went for a stroll on my own with my camera and made a conscious choice not to put my earbuds in.

Instead, I listened.

The birds tweeting, the water splashing, the trees moving above me… nature really does have its own soundtrack.

There was a moment where I felt a little vulnerable walking alone, and I think many women will understand that feeling. But I didn’t want that to take away from the beauty of the walk.

Sometimes the simplest reset is fresh air, a quiet path, and allowing yourself to really notice what’s around you.

Small steps. Fresh air. A calmer mind. 🌿

Sometimes life feels overwhelming, and the noise in your head can feel very loud.

I went along to Mauré Studios, a lovely family-led Yorkshire business run by Samantha, to move, breathe and be around like-minded women.

And for that hour, exercise helped quieten the noise.

There was movement, calm, connection and a reminder that healing doesn’t always begin with a big brave leap. Sometimes it starts with one small step: getting out of the house, being around people, moving your body, and giving yourself space to breathe.

So if you’re feeling down, let down, overwhelmed or carrying a lot right now, please know you’re not alone.

Getting out amongst people, even gently, can be one small step towards feeling like yourself again. ✨

Today I went for a 30-minute walk and noticed so much beauty around me.

I’m a real sucker for flowers, plants, colour, and those little details we often rush past — so I took a few quick photos along the way.

It reminded me that wellbeing isn’t always about doing something big.

Sometimes it’s a short walk, fresh air, noticing beauty, or saying yes to something that gently gets us out into the world.

I’ve also been thinking a lot about connection recently. Social health doesn’t have to mean big plans or expensive nights out. It can start with something simple — a walk, a picnic, a local class, a shared interest, a coffee with a friend, or saying yes when part of you wants to stay home.

If you’ve been feeling lonely or disconnected, you’re not the only one. It’s more common than many people realise, and I think many of us can resonate with that feeling at different times in life.

That’s partly why I’m saying yes to a nature photography workshop next week — to get outside, meet new people, and reconnect through something I enjoy.

This started with a few marks on my bathroom drawers…
and turned into a little reset ✨

I didn’t buy anything new — just refreshed what I already had and added a touch of colour 🌷

Funny how small changes in your space can quiet the mind a little

And it made me think… how often do we carry that same “noise” into our food, habits, and daily routines?

Sometimes we don’t need a complete overhaul — just small, supportive changes

Think berries, peppers, tomatoes, carrots, leafy greens, red cabbage, olives, nuts and seeds — simple everyday foods that bring colour, fibre and nourishment to the plate.
