🔥 One of the hardest things in the treatment room is how people try to explain and interpret pain.

Pain is incredibly subjective and often really difficult to describe. People say things like “I’ve got a high pain tolerance” all the time, but pain doesn’t really work that simply.

No one experiences it in exactly the same way, which is why listening to the body is so important.

Sometimes the hardest part isn’t the pain itself, it’s trying to explain something nobody else can actually feel.

Tennis elbow isn’t just something you get when you play tennis! 🎾

It usually builds up over time from repetitive gripping, lifting or overloading the forearm muscles, leading to irritation around the tendons on the outside of the elbow. It often starts as a small ache, but if ignored can quickly begin affecting everyday movements like lifting, typing or even holding a cup of coffee. 💪🏼

My non-negotiables 💛

There are definitely more to add to this list but these are my top 6.

1. Short nails: yes it might not look pretty but it does bloody hurt when you’re getting a treatment and the person scraps you with their nails.

2. Adjustable massage table: this probably is my number 1. Invest in a decent couch you can move with your clients. Your body mechanics as a therapist are SO important. Use the table to your benefit.

3. . In my opinion, it’s definitely the best out there. Smells great, great grip and a little goes a long way.

4. Hair.. let’s just tie it up!

5. Heated blanket: I’m so obsessed about you guys staying warm. Nothing worse than trying to have a massage and thinking you’re cold the whole time.

6. Music: I’m not here to put you to sleep, I’m playing real music. If you’d like to choose your own music, just let me know.

Massage isn’t just about “working knots out”.

A lot of what people feel during treatments is the nervous system responding to touch, pressure and movement.

🔹 Better circulation
🔹 Reduced sensitivity
🔹 A body that feels safe to move

This is why massage can feel so effective - it’s physiology, not magic.
