With some resting time after the end of a beautiful 6 month sound journey across Kent, we want to express our gratitude to those who have made This Place Meant - a sound pilgrimage of Kent’s heritage possible and alive.

Firstly, thank you to those that came to one or more of the places and made it alive with your presence. ✨

To all the artists that brought their magic and really enriched & expanded what we can do 🙏

To Didier and Louise for being the best producers you could ask for.

To the places and the people in them that welcomed us so well! Its amazing what can happen when there’s openness and respect.

To Manuel Mason and Alex Davies for the documentation..film coming soon :)

All the volunteers that helped making it smooth and welcoming.

Dan for the brilliant design all round.

To the friends that showed up in support

The end of a long week of sound with a morning immersion on the dawn of solstice for Wavelengths Dance Festival

Yesterday and Tuesday were expansion days working with Unity Arts Collective to create durational soundscapes for their installation at The University of Kent.
Plus puppets, who also live in my heart :)

Thursday for our monthly time travel at Lympne Castle.

In a conversation this morning I was again reminded of the strange and beautiful things that this work can create. Often I have a moment towards the end of playing the gongs where I play them in strong dissonance. Today this sound has taken someone back to a childhood memory of growing in the country and listening to the rotavator during the harvest season. Sometimes is helicopters and conflict zones.

Pleasure to spend the day with secondary students the_beacon_learning

They were open, engaged and humorous.

In one of the sessions a student laughed pretty much non stop for over 15min! I never experienced anything like it and at some point nearly exploded laughing myself :). If I ever change name it will be to The Laughing Gong.
