160KG Dentist Chair ✅
Mount Snowdon ✅
Carry the Chair to the Summit and back down again ✅
Guinness World Record - 🤞🏻
Last week on Friday May 15th I stood in a car park at the base of Mount Snowdon in Wales, 5.30am and daylight starting to seep across the sky. The atmosphere was calm with an edge of nervousness and excitement as the Dental Chair, Sully, was unloaded from the back of a white van.
After a brief sense check that we had everything, a safety briefing and a few moments to gather ourselves the challenge began, 1 mission - carry a 160KG Dentist Chair to the top of Mount Snowdon and back down again to raise money for and in the process, try and set a Guinness World Record.
As a team we took it in turns to carry the Chair, slow and steady, to the top of the mountain, some parts of the mountain path were merely difficult, some parts had me questioning my life choices, but the whole experience was an exceptional display of team work, from those of us carrying, to those clearing a path, pointing out when the incline got steep, large rocks or loose gravel underfoot, to those providing encouragement and companionship on what was a long, tough climb. We reached the Summit with such a sense of achievement as a group and the realisation it took the whole group to get that chair to the top, not just those carrying the weight.
So a little like life right? You don’t need to take someone’s weight from them to help; there are many many other ways you can lighten their load.
So that’s my ask of you if you’ve read this far - and well done if you have 🤣- just show a little kindness to others, offer encouragement, complement each other, smile, always smile and don’t be afraid to ask a stranger if they are ok if your instincts tell you they aren’t, they may just be having an off day, it may be more, it may be nothing, but someone checking in is all it takes to turn it around for them. ❤️
