Shallochmill Shetland Ponies Shallochmill is a miniature Shetland pony stud situated near Girvan,South Ayrshire.

We aim to breed,quality,registered,friendly ponies(and a few mini donkeys) for the show ring,therapy work,pets,companions and just purely to enjoy.

So here we go…the day started with Shallochmill Pic N Mix winning the broodmares out of 5 forward.
Pic N Mix’s foal Shallochmill Milky Way stood a very respectable second.
Shallochmill Tutti Frutti was 2nd in a very strong 2/3yr old class being the only 2yr old and only filly in the top 4.
Then in the yearlings Shallochmill Ruadh decided not to trot out in her individual show finishing 2nd with Shallochmill Siggy 3rd, again in a big class.
So four homebred ponies went into the championship and although we didn’t win a big one I did get awarded Best Bred by an exhibitor surprising the judge(Tony Bell) with as many from one stud forward.

2026 foaling is complete. Ten mares were scanned in foal and I had ten straightforward foalings and healthy babies. It’s such a relief to get it all over with.
A huge thank you to everyone who enquired about foals but they are all now spoken for (except the ones I’m keeping oops 🙊).

Yay foaling has officially finished here at the Mill with this little person just freshly out the oven.
I’m absolutely delighted every one this year has been straightforward but even more delighted that I’m finally going to get some sleep.

I’m posting this one completely out of order because this is our penultimate foal of 2026.
By Timberland Limited Edition out of the superstar that is Halstock Orla this strong girl is just four days old.
A straightforward birth at a reasonable 8pm and it’s a first here for the stud because this filly is strawberry roan.
I can’t wait to watch as she changes coat.
We’ve not thought of a name yet so suggestions welcome and absolutely no theme to follow with sisters named Eva, Charlotte, Hokey Cokey, Orianna and Ruadh so far …..

Almost three years ago Shallochmill Whoopee started losing weight, had terrible diarrhoea and colic episodes. Then followed two years of steroids, gastroscope, f***l transfaunation, many changes of feed, worm counts, every gut supplement going, hours of tlc before it was suggested to test for sand in her gut. Another 8-9 months of psyllium husk supplements, more steroids, regular worm counts and checks for sand, some box rest,a very regimented diet and finally Whoopee was sand and drug free and happy.
So this picture below is one I never thought I’d see. A very happy Whoopee who is absolutely besotted by her daughter Shallochmill Bespoke aka Bee.
By Timberland Limited Edition out of Shallochmill Whoopee( Halstock Yahoo) this filly looks happy and healthy with her vet check showing her Igg absolutely perfect meaning mum has produced good quality colostrum for her little one.

I’m losing track of which foals I’ve introduced so far but I’m happy to report I’m well over half way to finishing foaling now.
Last spring I asked old man Sprite to breed me a c**t to follow in his footsteps and I’m delighted to report he’s done that…..twice.
So here’s Shallochmill Rolex who is out of first time mum Buxted Lucy Lockett (Kerswell Morello)
Lucy popped this little man out with no problems at all and is now very chuffed with him as am I.

So after watching another mare get up and down a few times in the early hours on the day of our local Ayr show I was all set to let Stuart take his Clydesdale himself but in the couple of hours it took to get ready the mare had settled and all was quiet.
We shot to the show, arriving last but in time, did our class and championship then shot straight back home all the time with the camera on.
We needn’t have worried because all was quiet when we returned.
Sitting watching the same mare later on I noticed another girl wandering off on her own to the far side of the field.
Sure enough Shallochmill Haile had decided to jump the queue and chose to try to hide behind our cow, Frankie to sneak her foal out in the dark.
Frankie 🐄 wanted to steal it but otherwise all was straightforward.
Carrying on the theme of runners or athletes it was Elspeth Crawford who googled the track and field athlete Amarachi P**i so meet Shallochmill P**i, a filly by show winner Jambarrie Luigi out of Highland show junior champion Shallochmill Haile.
My first great grandchild this one was always going to be a keeper ❤️
