I’ve got a sweet tooth and I understand all the chat about savoury breakfasts BUT I’ve always found it hard to eat veg first thing (🤮). I’ve got a sweet tooth and for years I lived off cereal which only triggered a raging blood sugar spike and set me up for a crash-and-crave kind of day. Not ideal. Now I play around with these blended little shots - just enough sweetness to keep the microbiome happy, support my gut lining, and avoid the spike. After this I have a stabilising protein-and-fat breakfast.
Here’s what’s in this shot: Beetroot, carrot, horseradish, lemon (just a squeeze), water to blend, chia or flaxseed for extra fibre.
Method: chuck it all in a blender (not juicer - you want to retain the fibre), adjust with water / other ingredients as you like. Don’t worry about quantities - just use what you’ve got and play around until you find what you like.
If you need more motivation, here’s why this works: You don’t want a big glucose spike first thing. It stresses your system, ramps up cravings, and leaves your energy and mood on a rollercoaster. Starting the day with fibre, colour and plants gives your microbiome something to work with and helps keep blood sugar steadier.
Down it like you used to down the vodka shots and enjoy your day 🙌🏻!
