Other people on holiday: Let’s eat and ice-cream & swim in the sea!
Me on holiday: Ooh I wonder what my hydrophone would sound like on this beach?
+Sound on for this post btw+
Every month I release what I call Audio Postcards via my Bandcamp, it’s a collection of audio snippets from sounds across the world. Some sent in by my family and the Feeling Sound community.
Last month I featured sounds gathered during our last sound walk using the geofon, conch, contact mic and hydrophone. (Ever wondered what it’s like to listen to gritstone rock? We found out!)
This month I’ve put together some highlights of recordings gathered during my time on Gyllyngvase Beach in Falmouth.

Listen to the plop and sizzle of the waves and bubbling of the sand. This is gonna make some nice loop samples for me to play with for sure!
This process of playing is what I love to do best.
That freedom of seeing what happens, curiosity in finding a new way to listen to the world - that’s the seed of awe and wonder in our lives.
Our next sound walk is on Sun 12th July in Old Glossop, come along and play too.
Only 8 spaces are available, it’s £40 for a four hour gentle hike with lots of field recording toys for us to play with along the way.
I mean have you ever wondered what it would be like to stick a contact mic or geofon on a disused nuclear bunker?! Cos that’s what we’ll be doing!!!
Booking via https://www.feelingsound.co/services or comment on this post the word NUCLEAR and I’ll DM you the link directly 😂☢️
