🌿 A little bit of family time at Jen’s Den 🌿
This morning I had the absolute pleasure of welcoming , Kayleigh and Kirsten to Jen’s Den for their own family terrarium session.

Mum Teresa and her two daughters had decided to spend a couple of hours together creating, and it was lovely to have them here.
It was lush watching the dynamics between the three of them.

They were so naturally at ease with one another. Lots of chatting, lots of laughter, a bit of gentle banter, and just a really lovely energy around the table. 💚

Teresa arrived slightly less convinced about her creative abilities… There was definitely a bit of “Oh God, I’m not going to be able to do this!”

Well, Teresa… you absolutely could. And you absolutely did. 🌱
By the end, all three had created these beautiful little living worlds.

And what I loved was how completely different Kayleigh and Kirsten’s creations were from one another. Same materials, same space, same morning, but three individual terrariums that seemed to reflect three individual personalities.

That’s one of my favourite things about these workshops. There really isn’t a right version of what you’re supposed to create.
Sometimes the loveliest part isn’t even what you take home.
It’s the couple of hours you gave yourselves to be together. ❤️

And then we had a little unexpected bonus visitor… 💚
While we were busy creating, I spotted Zak
also known as PickWalks walking past the fence doing what Zac so often does… quietly getting on with his usual litter picking and looking after our community.

Obviously I couldn’t just let him walk past. 😂 So I called over and asked him to come and say hello!
It gave me the perfect opportunity to tell Teresa, Kayleigh and Kirsten about some of the brilliant work Zac does locally, and Zac
was able to share a little information about the latest organised community litter pick too
🌿♻️

And while we were talking about wonderful humans doing good things, I couldn’t resist giving our mate Jim, The Canoe River Cleaner a shout-out as well. Because apparently no Jen’s Den workshop is complete without me telling somebody about another brilliant person doing something positive for our environment and community. 😂💚

Zac popping by was an added bonus all round. One for me, because I always love seeing him, and one for the ladies because they got to hear a little more about some of the positive things happening right here in our community.
And actually, I think that sums up something I really love about Jen’s Den.
You might arrive to make a terrarium, but you never quite know who might wander past the fence, what conversations might happen, or what little connections might grow while you’re here. 🌱

Thank you Teresa, Kayleigh and Kirsten for choosing to spend some of your family time at Jen’s Den Nature Retreat. I thoroughly enjoyed having you, and I think the photographs say the rest. 💚

Three women. Three terrariums. One rather lovely morning together… with a surprise visit thrown in too. 🌿✨

I just want to say how proud we are of our Joe.

Hes chosen to step back into formal education through Franklin College Adult Learning so he can gain his English and Maths leading him onto his A level languages which we know he'll be able to do in his sleep!

Joe is a natural linguist but not having his maths has been a huge barrier to accessing A levels...

However, once more after being out of formal education for the last 4 years, hes stepping forward and giving education another go.

What a legend!
Ive lost count of the amount of times joes been let down and he continues to keep trying.
🌿

Thanks to Claire, and Nic for supporting joe through his assessment this morning and once more we hope for better things to come.

Joseph Loughran super proud of you.

🌿🎨 WHAT SHALL WE MAKE AT JEN’S DEN THIS WEEK? 🎨🌿

A couple of weeks ago, quite a few of you were asking me when I was bringing Forest Pot, Paint & Plant back…

This morning I’m welcoming the wonderful women from Modern Matriarchs CIC for a private Terrarium Workshop (which they specifically requested 🌱), and then I’d planned for the rest of this week to be all about our forest pots.

At the moment I have:

🍄 Wednesday 9th September 4 spaces
🌿 Thursday 10th September 5 spaces
🎨 Saturday 12th September spaces available

I’ve added the Saturday especially for families who have kiddos at school during the week and would still like to come along. 💚

BUT… I need your help!

The terrarium workshops have been incredibly popular, and I’m wondering whether you’d actually prefer me to keep those running this week too.

So tell me in the comments 👇

🌿 FOREST POTS — keep this week as Forest Pot, Paint & Plant

OR

🪴 TERRARIUMS — give us some more Terrarium Workshops!

Jen’s Den is very much shaped by the people who use it, so I genuinely want to know what you fancy doing.

And if you already know you’d like one of the Forest Pot spaces on Wednesday, Thursday or Saturday, pop me a message and I’ll get you booked in. 💚🌳

🌿 WHEN OUR VALUES MEET 🌿
I'm really looking forward to welcoming the women from Modern Matriarchs CIC to Jen's Den for a terrarium workshop. 💚

Their values feels like such a natural connection between us.
Modern Matriarchs exists to empower and support women, creating spaces where women can feel safe, heard, connected and able to access support when they need it.

Their work ranges from community drop-ins and practical support to confidence-building, advocacy and creating opportunities for women to connect with one another.

At Jen's Den, safety is for everybody. But I also think about safety as something we need to feel, not simply something we're told we have

Sometimes our nervous systems need somewhere they can soften.

Nature can help with that. 🌿
Being amongst trees. Using our hands. Creating something without worrying whether we're doing it "right".

Sitting together. Talking if we want to talk. Being quiet if we don't.

So I'm really looking forward to bringing these two little worlds together and welcoming the Modern Matriarchs women through the gate to spend a couple of hours creating their own terrarium worlds.

Two grassroots community spaces with slightly different purposes, but a rather lovely bit of common ground:

People deserve spaces where they can feel safe enough to simply be themselves. 💚
Can't wait to have you here, ladies.
🌿 Love, Jen x

Meet Barbie & Cazza. Aka Gemma and Carolyn, the two women responsible for saving my hen-party outfit this morning.
🩷
I popped into Tesco Cleethorpes at ridiculous o'clock this morning on a mission to exchange a dress that was too big… and ended up with these two absolute gems launching what can only be described as Operation Find Jen A Dress. 😂

I’d spotted another dress I loved, but customer service wasn’t actually open yet and I couldn’t do the return through the normal tills.

Enter Gemma also known as Barbie, her words!💗

Rather than just telling me I’d have to wait until customer service opened, Gemma took me over there herself and sorted everything out for me.

We got chatting about the dresses and, when I mentioned the one I really wanted was too big, she immediately offered to go and see if they had a size 8 out the back.

Off she toddled upstairs to hunt one down for me. 😂

She came back to say they sadly didn’t have one there yet, BUT they were expecting a delivery later, so she offered to take my phone number and actually ring me if one came in.

I mean… THAT is customer service. ❤️

But the Tesco dress gods were looking down on me this morning because, about two minutes later, down came Carolyn, also known as Cazza! 😂, with THE DRESS IN MY SIZE!!

The pair of them were just brilliant. Full of smiles, genuinely wanting to help and completely invested in making sure I had something I felt good in for the hen party this afternoon.

lovely women just rallying around another woman and going, “Right, we’re sorting you a dress!” 😂💗

So a massive, massive thank you to Gemma (Barbie) and Carolyn (Casa) at Tesco Cleethorpes.

You probably thought you were just helping somebody exchange a dress this morning, but your kindness, humour and willingness to go that extra mile genuinely brightened the start of my day.

And Barbie & Casa… THE PINK POLKA DOT DRESS LOOKS FABULOUS!! 💃🏻🩷😂

We have a winner!

Thank you, ladies. You were absolute stars. ⭐️⭐️

Now i can do some catching up jobs for Jen's Den, take cooper for a walk, take myself for a walk at 11AM with The Canoe River Cleaner for their comraides picnic, then return at 1PM to get ready for the Hen.🩷

I have 5 spaces left for the FREE Terrarium workshop tomorrow

This is the last one before our Forest pot painting starting next week.

🌿 WELL… A GIRL CAN DREAM😂🌿

My mate Steve Gaunt sent me this yesterday and I genuinely SQUEALED when it landed in my Messenger. 😂

For anybody who doesn't know, I absolutely LOVE Benson Boone.

I love his music, obviously, but his energy and the way he writes is beautifully authentic
There's something so open and authentic about his songwriting, particularly the love and connection that comes through when he writes about the people closest to him.

So Steve decided to make one of my dreams come true and popped Benson Boone into The Nest at Jen's Den. 😂😂

I think he would like it here. 🌿
No performing., no interviews.

Just come and sit in The Nest for a bit or The wild play table, The den, or choose some natural materials from the land from The Choosing Pantry

I'll make you a cuppa. ☕
We can stare at the trees. 🌳
Maybe make yourself a terrarium or a Terracotta ecosystem
Have a wander in the woods.
Nobody needs anything from you.

You can just be with nature for a couple of hours.

And considering the speed that man's life must move at, I reckon a little bit of Jen's Den time would do him the world of good. 😂💚

Will Benson Boone ever actually find himself sitting in The Nest?
Almost certainly not.

Am I going to continue enjoying this photograph and pretending there's a tiny possibility?
Blooming definitely 😂

Thanks Steve. You've made my week.

And Benson Boone , should you ever find yourself inexplicably wandering around Grimsby looking for somewhere to escape the world for a couple of hours...

I've got a Nest with your name on it. 🌿😂
Love,
Jen x
