Learn how to recognise and treat Ischiofemoral impingement (IFI)

A brand-new module on eacacademy.com is based on an article by Grimaldi et al and is titled ‘Ischiofemoral Impingement: Clinical Perspectives for Enhancing Diagnosis and Rehabilitation‘.

Ischiofemoral impingement (IFI) is an under-recognised cause of persistent buttock pain that is frequently mistaken for other hip, pelvic, or lumbar disorders. This clinical masterclass reviews the current understanding of the structural and biomechanical factors contributing to IFI and provides evidence-informed guidance for diagnosis, differential diagnosis, imaging, and rehabilitation.

Particular emphasis is placed on recognising characteristic clinical presentations, performing appropriate physical examination and diagnostic tests, and implementing conservative rehabilitation strategies focused on movement retraining, postural education, and exercise. The article also discusses indications for imaging and the role of injection or surgical management in patients who fail conservative care.

This module aims to help you:
• Recognise the typical clinical presentation and key differential diagnoses of ischiofemoral impingement.
• Identify the structural and movement-related factors that contribute to narrowing of the ischiofemoral space.
• Apply evidence-informed assessment strategies, including appropriate clinical tests and imaging.
• Implement rehabilitation principles that address postural, biomechanical and functional contributors to symptoms.

Read the article and successfully answer the quiz, then download your certificate. Send in the certificate to your registering body to count for 1 CPD point/ hour.

The European Chiropractors' Union, together with Chiropractic Australia and the Royal College of Chiropractors, is delighted to welcome the Canadian Chiropractic Association (CCA) as a supporting partner of Chiropractic & Manual Therapies Journal. (CMTJ).

CMTJ is a peer reviewed, open access journal dedicated to advancing research in chiropractic, manual therapies, and related fields. It carries an impact factor of 2.4, a record high for the journal and one that continues to rise, the highest of any chiropractic journal in the world, and ranks in the top quartile of the rehabilitation category.

The CCA's involvement adds a strong North American voice to the journal's international base of supporting societies. The CCA will continue to publish its own research journal, the Journal of the Canadian Chiropractic Association, alongside this new collaboration.

The partner societies, in a joint statement, said "This partnership reflects a shared commitment across the global chiropractic community to research excellence, knowledge translation and international engagement".

CMTJ's editorial team welcomed the news: "The editors at CMTJ are delighted that the Canadian Chiropractic Association has joined the journal as an official partner," they said. "The Canadian Chiropractic Association's values as an evidence based, progressive chiropractic organisation perfectly aligns with the journal's aim to provide the chiropractic and manual therapy professions with up to date evidence about the conservative management of musculoskeletal conditions. The support of the Canadian Chiropractic Association will expand the journal's impact and reach throughout North America, and we look forward to a productive relationship for many years to come."

Editorial decisions for CMTJ remain fully independent of all partners and supporting organisations.
