You will ‘live for 100 years or more and be free from diseases in old age’ if you drink warm water first thing, says 5000 year old Ayurvedic wisdom.

Dawn drinking’ (ushapana) is the habit of drinking about 750ml of warm water first thing in the morning. 750ml might be too much for you but try to drink at least a glass, ideally 2. Make sure it’s warm (not hot) so you can drink it fairly quickly.

This dawn drinking will delay your hunger a little but that is fine, it means you fast for a little longer overnight.

And, something we love in Ayurveda, your bowel movements will be easier and more prompt 😍

1/2 tsp each of coriander, cumin and fennel seeds in a cup or teapot, add a cup’s worth of boiling water, steep for 5 minutes and you have a cup of CCF (cumin coriander fennel) tea to sort out your festive bloat.

All three of the spices are well-regarded carminatives (reduces or helps expel gas) and digestive stimulants.

In Ayurveda, this trio are used to gently stoke your digestive fire without being so stimulating that one overheats.

A spreadsheet for the meals. A spreadsheet for the gifts. I’m sure we could come up with another one, any suggestions?

This originally started when me and my siblings were self-centred teenagers who didn’t realise the toll that Christmas took on my mum. It was made to clear to us that the show could not go on as it had and the Christmas planning spreadsheets were born.

It’s all very pitta and unromantic but it keeps us all sane!

Anyone recognise this?
