We received an email this week from Global Health & Pharma (GHP) letting us know we’d been named Best Medical Billing Firm in their 2026 Global Excellence Awards.
It’s a small piece of recognition from an industry publication, but it made me stop and reflect about the MediAccounts journey.
2012… a shed, three laptops, and a very clear idea that there had to be a better way.
We had the perfect mix from the start — industry experience (Tracey), financial expertise (Ellie), and for me, a personal, consultant-side perspective from growing up in a family of doctors.
Coming from corporate backgrounds, we were genuinely shocked that bad debt in private practice was almost accepted as the norm. Hospitals, insurers, embassies and patients often didn’t pay, and insurers would frequently push back on fees in an effort to control costs — leaving gaps that weren’t always followed through.
Doctors, understandably focused on clinical work, didn’t always have the time or visibility to stay on top of it — but those small missed payments quickly add up.
There wasn’t a truly joined-up, end-to-end accounts solution that combined technology with a consistent, personal approach.
So we built one.
The three of us have been described as having “the power of a wind tunnel” — and honestly, that probably sums us up quite well. That same drive has carried through the business and into our team, who are the backbone of MediAccounts.
Not a big award — but a good reminder of the journey
