Your safety always comes first at Maha Therapy. 💚
Every filler treatment I perform is carried out with safety as my highest priority. One of the important safety checks I use is aspiration before injecting filler in appropriate treatment areas.
Aspiration involves gently pulling back on the syringe plunger before injecting. If blood enters the syringe (a positive aspiration), it indicates the needle may be within a blood vessel. I will not inject in that location and will reposition before continuing.
Why is this so important?
If dermal filler is accidentally injected into a blood vessel, it can block blood flow. This is known as a vascular occlusion (VO). Although rare, it is a serious complication that can reduce the blood supply to the surrounding tissue, potentially leading to skin damage and, in very rare cases, vision loss if vessels around the eye are affected.
By following strict safety protocols—including thorough assessment, detailed knowledge of facial anatomy, careful injection techniques, aspiration where appropriate, and having emergency protocols in place—I aim to minimise risks and provide the safest treatment possible.
At Maha Therapy, your confidence, wellbeing, and safety are at the heart of everything I do. 🌿
