Many of you have got tattoos which last forever. And you might have a question why does permanent makeup fade over time when traditional tattoo doesnโ€™t? In this picture you can compare two different types of tattoo and find the answer you were looking for so long โค๏ธ๐Ÿ˜Š

With semi permanent makeup, pigment is implanted into the top layer of dermis, needle goes through ๐ž๐ฉ๐ข๐๐ž๐ซ๐ฆ๐ข๐ฌ (upper layer of the skin). Epidermis is the layer of skin that you can see and it is constantly shedding and renewing itself.

๐ƒ๐ž๐ซ๐ฆ๐ข๐ฌ (deeper layer of the skin) do not go through this cellular turnover and so do not replace themselves. That for it allows pigment to stay in the skin semi permanently.

Because pigment is implanted only in top layer of dermis, it allows pigment to fade out naturally over the time and requires retouch to boost the colour. โ™ฅ๏ธ
