Havering Libraries has launched Havering Reads for Children as part of the National Year of Reading 📚

The initiative encourages children to read the same books, share their thoughts and talk about their reading experiences together.

Two books have been selected:
📖 The Great Pollination Investigation by Deborah Hocking
📖 At the Bottom of Dudley's Garden by Dinah Mason Eagers

Both titles are available in borough libraries and have also been gifted to Havering’s primary schools. They support the Plants for Pollinators campaign, highlighting the important role pollinators play in our environment and how everyone can help protect them.

The programme will also include live author visits to schools and story and craft sessions during the half-term holidays.

Our next PPG meeting is tonight, 5pm at the Health Centre. If you are a patient at Rainham Health Centre and would like to join our Patients Participation Group - please feel free to come along.

Our group discusses all things health centre with management, staff and members. We do not discuss personal grievances, but instead we discuss things such as “what’s working at the surgery” and “what can be done better?”

Our next meeting is in July, and I will post on our PPG board within the surgery closer to the time. We meet four times a year so it really isn’t much commitment. We are always happy to welcome new patients into our group.

Our surgery will be holding an Easter bunny event on Tuesday (tomorrow) 12-2pm.

Colouring, dancing, and photos with the Easter bunny, few snacks and each child gets an Easter treat!

Today I met Suzy, whose story I first heard at my SEND roundtable. In the coming weeks and months I will be working with her to raise awareness of Pica locally and with MPs in Parliament. Keep an eye on my socials for a video next week. 👀

Today the surgery is holding an open day for patients who are unsure how to use the Evergreen App to make medical appointments.

Around 20 services will showcase some of the facilities available for families.
