September is 𝗔𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗮 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵. 🩵

A good moment to talk a little louder about alopecia and about what often goes unseen alongside it.

Awareness means more than simply knowing that alopecia exists. It means looking for and sharing reliable information, recognizing when hair loss needs proper medical attention, supporting early and accurate diagnosis, and making sure patients feel heard and cared for throughout the treatment process.

This month gives us an extra reason to recognize everyone living with alopecia, as well as the doctors, researchers and healthcare professionals working every day to better understand hair loss, improve patient care and develop better treatment options.

Hair loss is visible. Its cause often isn’t. And neither is the impact it can have on confidence, wellbeing and everyday life.

There is still a lot to learn, discuss and probably discover. September is a good time to keep that conversation going.

God bless all the medics, nurses, surgeons, doctors.

There are moments in nursing that never leave you.

The running. The alarms. The CPR. The split-second decisions. The moments when everything you’ve learned has to become instinct because someone’s life may depend on what happens next.

But nursing is also about what happens after the emergency. The hand you hold. The family you comfort. The patient you refuse to give up on.

After 20 years, I still believe there are few greater privileges than being trusted to care for another human being when they need you most.

This work is hard. It is exhausting. And it matters.

To every nurse who keeps showing up: never forget the impact you leave behind. ❤️

For many children, the hardest part of surgery isn’t the procedure itself, but the fear that precedes it. With this in mind, Brazilian doctor Leandro Guimarães found a creative and moving way to transform anxiety into courage.

Before entering the operating room, your little patients choose superhero costumes and head to surgery as if they were embarking on a great mission. Dressed as Batman, Spider-Man, Wonder Woman, and other characters, they walk through the hospital corridors in a much lighter and more fun atmosphere.

Otolaryngologist Leandro believes that emotional support is just as important as medical treatment. This initiative helps reduce stress in children, reassures families, and transforms what is normally a frightening moment into a more positive experience.

The idea gained traction on social media and caught the attention of people worldwide. In 2025, the doctor received the WEmbrace Awards in the “Inspiring Stories” category, an international award that recognizes professionals and projects that promote inclusion, innovation, and social impact in the healthcare field.
