I didn't think my sleep was a problem; I'd always been like that... wired, finding it difficult to switch off, but I was doing well, it's just the way I was, normal for me.

Though it's glaringly obvious now, I hadn't really thought about how poor sleep impacted everything else I was struggling with: my metabolism, food choices, ability to see the positive, my mental health, how I managed stress, and the weirdest one. my ability to relax.

Poor sleep is normalised by so many of us, something we just put up with. But I believe when we get our sleep right, EVERYTHING else gets easier.

𝐅𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐞𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞.

We often know what supports our mental health. But knowing is not the same as doing.

Turning knowledge into action requires structure, consistency, and support. Without that, even the best intentions can fade.

Evidence shows that repeating positive actions builds habits, which then support long-term mental wellbeing and reduce stress.

Health coaching bridges this gap by:

• Turning insight into practical steps
• Breaking goals into manageable actions
• Embedding routines that stick

If we want better mental health outcomes, we need to focus not just on awareness, but on sustained behaviour change.

Mental Health Awareness Week and National Walking Month falling at the same time. A reminder that looking after our wellbeing at work doesn’t need to be complicated.

🚶‍♀️ Every action counts, and most of the time it comes down to small, consistent steps
👢 Walking meetings are one of my favourites.

Not for everything, but for the right conversations, 1:1s, check-ins, the ones where you actually need to think, it’s a simple change that makes a difference.

You’re away from the screen, conversations tend to be more relaxed, and people often think more clearly when they’re moving rather than sitting at a desk.

On top of that, getting out for a walk has clear benefits for mental health too:

• Helps reduce stress levels.

• Supports clearer thinking and focus

• Improves digestion, circulation, and sleep - not the first things you might think of, but all beneficial to brain health

It’s not a new idea, but it’s easy to overlook once the day gets busy

This year’s theme for MHAM is Every Action Counts, and this is a great example of that in practice. Nothing major, just a little thing that’s easy to build into the working week.

If you haven’t tried it, could your next meeting this week be a walking meeting? Give it a go, and see what difference it makes

This morning I've been putting together "self-care hampers" to support relaxation for Mental Health Awareness Week. 😊

If someone you know (and we all do) struggles to take time to find time to prioritise themselves, why not make them one too.

This year's theme is "Every Action Counts" and no act of kindness is ever wasted ❤️

Join us for our next Power of the Plate event, Friday 26 June, 11:30–14:30

After feedback from previous sessions, this time we’re focusing on sleep.

I genuinely believe sleep is the foundation pillar of our health. When we sort out our sleep, everything else gets easier: our food choices, our energy, our mood. But as many of us know, it’s often easier said than done.
This session is designed to help ❤️

We’ll enjoy a delicious and nutritious lunch together, with a carefully curated sleep‑friendly menu from Antonia, bust some common sleep myths, and learn practical tools to help relax both body and mind.

We’re also delighted to welcome Helen Wood from Earth & Ether Holistics, who'll explain how reflexology can be beneficial for sleep, before guiding us through a simple hand sequence you can use before bed, or if you wake during the night, to help you relax and drift off.

Enjoy open and informative conversation around sleep from a whole‑person perspective, exploring:

💤 The basics of sleep science, what we need, and what happens when we’re not getting enough

🛏️ How to create a better sleep environment, and what might be getting in the way

🥱 Everyday habits that support better sleep, including realistic and helpful ways to use (and avoid) technology

🌾The food–sleep connection: how timing and food choices influence cravings, energy, and quality.

👌🏼 Simple, practical hacks that support better sleep and fit easily into busy lives.

🎁 Everyone will receive a small "sleep‑support" gift and a recipe to take home.

Spaces are limited to 16, at £55 a head. Don't miss your space at the table.

We can't wait to welcome you!

I had to have a minute when Sarah sent me her testimonial... Just over a year ago when weight loss injections became available from online chemists, I'd gone into a bit of a panic, worried for my business and that all my training had gone to waste. Why would anyone want to work with me now?

Working with Sarah was a privilege, I learned a lot from her, that Mounjaro isn't an easy option, or a magic bullet.

She reminded me that even with the injections we need to look beyond symptoms, and that there is no one size fits all solution, whether that's medicine, diet plans or exercise regimes.

If you'd like to have a chat about how working with a health coach can help you build sustainable health habits then drop me a message or book in a complementary call at www.calendly.com/bestyouhealth
