We started working on our Autumn displays this week. The ladies enjoyed colouring leaves in autumnal colours to make wreathes and we read poems about the season. It seems to us that the Summer has disappeared so quickly!
We had a good old singsong this morning and dedicated it to the wonderful Dolly Parton. Not just a great singer and songwriter, she had many words of wisdom too! That led us on to Kenny Rodgers, Willie Nelson and all the way to “The Carpenters”!
The most requested film here at Beckfield is “The sound of music”. We watched a remake of it on Tuesday, it was good but didn’t beat the original, of course.
Newspaper club and a quiz kept us busy on Monday and we are going to have a quick meeting this afternoon to choose what we will be looking at in History club next week.

Good afternoon,

This week our residents have had fun playing musical games, singing, catching up with the news in newspaper club, enjoyed cinema club ( eating ice cream) and of course the weekly Beckfield quiz! A few of us managed to have a stroll around the village on Tuesday morning, then had a pamper with Paris our wonderful chiropodist.

Thank you to everyone who came and supported us last Saturday at our summer fete. The residents really enjoyed the Morris dancers and some of our staff had a go too.
We have our friends & meeting on Thursday 24th September 10.30-11.30 am. We’re also be supporting McMillan, so please do bring donations along and enjoy some yummy cake.

We have been getting last minute bits done for the Summer Fair tomorrow. Please come along and support us if you can. It’s on 11am- 3pm. We did some flower arrangements yesterday to put on tables which the ladies enjoyed. Charlie brought in puppies and kittens this week and they got lots of fuss!
We’ve also been baking and had fun looking at recipe books.
We had a great quiz morning yesterday, everything from questions about space to capital cities!
That’s all for now, fingers crossed we don’t get any rain tomorrow!

We’ve been getting things ready for the summer fete this week, it’s not far off- Saturday 22nd August. Anna held newspaper club on Monday as well as exercises and puzzles. We’ve been chatting today about lots of different topics. Molly the dog came to see us, she always makes the residents smile!
We’ve watched lots of clips from musicals this week too, and played a lot of Elvis, residents favourite.

We’ve been busy organising the fete this week, there is lots to do but we are getting there! Please come and join us on Saturday 22nd August, 11am-3pm. All money raised goes to the Residents Activity Fund, providing fun and entertainment for all the residents and daycare users.
Anna gave everyone a good workout with her exercise class this week! We’ve also made the most of the nice weather by sitting outside on the patio, going for walks around the village and we also popped into “By the beck” for some delicious cakes!
Residents made pizzas on Tuesday and we enjoyed them with chips for lunch. We had a good old singsong yesterday along with quizzes, puzzles and lots of chatting!

It’s Friday again already! We’ve had a busy week. Monday started with singing hymns and making music. Anna held newspaper club and residents enjoyed a word search. We played musical bingo, chatted and set the tables. Preschool came to visit us on Wednesday and everyone enjoyed it. Thursday saw us going to Cyprus for our “armchair travel day”. We learnt about the county and ate traditional food. We had a relaxed morning today, watching clips from classic films and talking about our favourite actors and movies.

So it’s Friday already and time to look back at our week. (A very HOT week!) we’ve tried to keep things relaxed as use as little energy as possible but even then we’ve been pretty busy! Yesterday we went along to “Friendly faces” at the Jubilee Hall. A big thanks to Heighington Parish Council for hosting the event. We enjoyed catching up and chatting over tea and biscuits. Eleven residents attended with thanks to family members and volunteers and it was truly wonderful to take so many residents out for an enjoyable afternoon.
Earlier in the week we celebrated “National Chocolate Day”! Everyone had a bar of chocolate and we had a virtual tour of “Cadburys World” followed by a talk on the Rowntrees factory.
Our daycare service has seen several new faces in the past few weeks and we are delighted to welcome them. Please contact us for more information if you or a loved one are interested.
We’ve done a bit of crafting this week, making pretty collages and decorations for our upcoming Summer Fete. (22nd Aug).
We made sandwiches for tea yesterday and will be starting baking club again soon.

Good afternoon,

This week has been all about playing games! We’ve had fun playing musical bingo and name that sound. A favourite game of through the years, and a dominoes marathon. History club was all about Wimbledon, we read through from when it started up to now. Playing balloon tennis and watching old clips we finished by eating strawberries and cream, they were delicious.
Residents supported England on Wednesday and we managed to sit in the garden.
