Good Morning -

The 1:1 Diet will enable you to get rid of both visceral fat (the fat around your organs) and sub-cutaneous fat (the fat under your skin). Less fat in the stomach area is also linked to a lower risk of heart disease and diabetes. We should be aiming for our waist measurement to be half that of our height.

Aside from fat around our middle section, is the issue of bloat - we can feel uncomfortable in the stomach area - no matter what our stomach measurement is!

So, how to reduce bloating?
10 ideas to try:

1. Stand and sit-up tall - don’t scrunch up your middle.
2. Avoid talking and eating at the same time. Eat more s-l-o-w-l-y - chew food properly to help with digestion. Eat Mindfully - pay attention to aromas - textures - flavours - savour every bite.
3. Avoid fizzy drinks and Chewing-gum. Don’t use a straw. You are just swallowing more air that contributes to bloating!
4. Minimise salt intake to avoid water retention.
5. Add Fibre (formerly Cambridge Fibre - Inulin) to your Shakes and Water to help improve your gut flora and fauna.
6. Drink your full water quota! Being dehydrated causes your body to retain water - this can lead to you carrying up to 4 extra lbs around your middle!!! You also can get pain from gas in your gut if you are not properly hydrated.
7. Caffeine - a cup of coffee is a natural diuretic and can help get rid of excess fluid - it’s also a stimulant that can get your bowels moving to help with constipation. (But don’t overdo the caffeine - it will interfere with your sleep pattern!)
8. Walk to help boost your metabolism to burn fat - walking also helps in reducing hypertension.
9. Get your full quota of sleep - missed sleep slows down your metabolism and can elevate cortisol levels which leads to increased fat storage!
10. Set time aside every day to relax… when stressed, the hormones that are released will negatively affect your digestive system, causing constipation! Stress also ramps up cortisol production - the ‘fight or flight’ hormones sending excess fat directly to your midsection in an attempt to protect your vital organs!
