Today we had a lovely visit from Esther Bloor who did an absolutely lovely show for our residents including lots of classics, lots of encouragement to sing and dance along and a ton of fun.

All of the residents have had really positive feedback and said they have had a lovely afternoon and we hope to have esther back again soon for another sing along party!

This month is Alzheimer’s awareness month because of this a lot of our activities across the next few weeks are going to be related to memories.

This morning we had a look at our memory box. This is a box filled with lots of old memories such as driving licences, old style money and much more. We all enjoyed passing it around the group and talking about what we remember in relation to the item.

This afternoon carried on with our memory theme doing some Alzheimer’s awareness ribbon crafting as well as crafting our own memory trees.

I asked the residents to use the leafs on the tree and fill out the following
- a childhood memory
- a school memory
- an adult memory
- a recent memory from the home
That are really important to them!

You can take a look at the answers on our notice board. A big thank you to everyone who got in the spirit today and wore purple for Alzheimer’s!

Hello all,

Just a quick reminder that next month is Alzheimer’s awareness month. I would like to ask that those who feel comfortable bring in one picture of there loved ones when they were younger.

This is for our Then and now session which I will be running next month once we’ve got enough pictures!

It will be an opportunity for the residents to reminisce on there life’s journey and for us all to connect.

Today we spent the morning doing a selection of word games on the whiteboard in which Peter was our champion today.

Before moving into some floor dominos and some bingo after lunch. Our winners enjoyed a chocolate.

To finish off this afternoon we had a go at creating some heart decorations for the residents rooms through only sticking down things we already had!

Overall jam packed day of fun.

Today I spent some time asking the residents about there favourite memories. They all shared very different experiences, and favourite moments and they are all lovely.

Today it was also Helen’s turn for a resident trip into town, where she got to socialise with the community and of course do a spot of shopping and grab a cuppa, making the most of the sunshine while it lasts.
