Qualsafe’s FREC 3 (Level 3 First Response Emergency Care) has just been updated and the changes are a huge leap forward for clinical safety and professionalism:
Extended Skill Modules: optional practical assessments for advanced interventions: supraglottic airway devices, inhaled analgesia (Entonox / Penthrox), naloxone administration, and blood glucose measurement. These are now part of the regulated syllabus.
Clinical Governance Requirement: to deliver these extended skills, your organisation must operate under a recognised governance framework, with clinical oversight, audit, and competency review. Clinical Governance is a core service offering for businesses from Prometheus Medical International.
Streamlined Assessment: fewer multiple-choice questionnaires, more scenario-based assessments, more practical learning.
If you’re running a first responder team or medical cover for events, it’s no longer enough to just train your people, you must back them with structured clinical oversight. Without governance, you risk limiting their capability and more importantly, risking patient safety.
