From now on, The Milk Circle will be moving to Friday mornings.

Same time. Same space. Same warm cuppa.
 Just a new day.

With Bookbug and other lovely baby groups now happening on Thursdays, Fridays feel like a better fit. So if you have been meaning to come along, this is your gentle nudge.

You do not need to be struggling to come.

You might have a feeding question. Bottle or Breast.
 You might want reassurance.
 You might want to meet another mum.
 You might just want to get out the house and sit with a hot drink for a bit.

The Milk Circle

What a lovely way to spend a Sunday 🤍

The MOTHER Workshop with and 12 incredible women.

A full day of learning, connection and honest conversations around pregnancy, birth and early motherhood.

We covered:
• Biomechanics of labour
• Breath work and relaxation
• The fourth trimester
• Feeding and supporting your baby

So much knowledge shared across 8 hours and so much for these women to take away into their births and early days and months with their babies.

It always feels incredibly special being part of a space where women can come together, ask questions, feel supported and leave feeling more informed and empowered.

I already cannot wait for the next one 🤍

✨ I went to see a lovely client today and she kindly gave me permission to share this photograph of one very happy, milk drunk baby. 🥰

Sometimes feeding support does not need to be complicated.

Sometimes it is about taking a little bit of time, watching what is happening, making small tweaks to positioning and latch, and helping both mum and baby feel more comfortable.

A deeper latch makes such a difference.

For mum, it can mean less pain and more confidence.
 For baby, it can mean more effective milk transfer and a calmer, more settled feed.

Today was one of those visits where a few small changes helped everything feel a little lighter.

And this little face says it all.

The loveliest feedback from our Mother Workshop 🤍

It honestly means so much to read words like these.

Our aim is never to overwhelm you with information. It is to help you understand your options, feel more confident in your body, and go into birth and feeding feeling calmer and better prepared.

Birth can feel huge.

But with the right support, the right information, and space to ask questions, it can feel a little less scary and a lot more empowering.

A huge thank you to everyone who came along and trusted us with such an important part of their pregnancy journey.

💞 GUEST BLOG 💞

Caitlin has very kindly shared her breastfeeding story over on the blog.

It is honest, beautiful and full of so many layers. The hard bits. The proud bits. The emotion and the love. The quiet celebration of everything she and her daughter shared.

Ending breastfeeding can feel like such a big moment, even when you know it is the right time. It can bring up sadness, relief, pride, guilt and gratitude all at once.

This story is a lovely reminder that feeding journeys are not always simple. They are deeply personal, and they deserve to be honoured in whatever way feels right for you.

✨Breastfeeding is natural but that does not mean it always comes naturally.

For so many mums the early days can feel confusing overwhelming and sore. That does not mean you are failing. It usually means you and your baby are learning together.

Small tweaks can make a huge difference and having the right support can change everything.

If feeding is feeling hard right now please know you do not have to struggle through it alone 🤍

What even is a fl**ge?

If you are pumping, the fl**ge is the part of the pump that fits over your ni**le and breast.

It might look simple, but it plays a really important role in how comfortable and effective pumping feels.

A poor fit can sometimes lead to:

💥pain while pumping 💥ni**le rubbing 💥swelling 💥reduced milk removal 💥 long pumping sessions that feel frustrating

And because ni**les are not all the same size, fl**ges are not one size fits all either.

Getting the right fit can help pumping feel more comfortable and work better for you.

This is something I can now support with too, if you are feeling unsure about your setup.

✨How wide is wide?

This is something I have been helping quite a few mums with recently.

If baby is only opening a little, feeding can feel sore, pinchy, shallow, or like they keep slipping off. Often, it only takes a few small changes to help things feel much better.

A couple of things to try:

❤️Slide baby slightly further down your body so their nose is level with your ni**le
 🩷Keep the back of their head free
 🧡Avoid holding or pushing at the back of the head
 💛Let them tip their head back so they can reach up and open wide

That space to move really matters.

A deeper latch often starts with positioning before baby even comes onto the breast.

If feeding is not feeling right, getting support early can make such a difference.

✨This morning’s Milk Circle really filled my cup.

It was so lovely to have everyone here, sitting on the floor with a cup of tea, having a good blether, and just taking a moment together. These mornings are becoming such a special part of what I do, and I’m so grateful to every mum who comes along and helps make it what it is.

It was also really lovely to have Sarah Bedford from Unwind Clinic in Peebles join us this morning and chat a little about how she works with babies. It was so interesting to hear more about her work and the support she offers families.

I’m feeling very grateful for this little community we’re building and for all of you who continue to support me.

And a little exciting note... I had a delivery arrive today, so there’ll be some exciting news to share next week.

💞A little reminder for any mum who needs to hear it today.

Feeding round the clock is hard. 
Broken sleep is hard. 
Being needed all the time is hard.

If you are feeling touched out, tired, emotional or like the days are blurring into one, you are not doing anything wrong. This season can feel really intense.

The two mums I have supported recently have both reminded me just how heavy those early days can feel. Sometimes what people need most is not to be told to enjoy every second, but to hear that yes, this is hard.

Take it one day at a time. 
One feed at a time. 
One hour at a time if you need to.

It is only a phase, even when it feels never ending, and you do not have to do it all perfectly.
