đź’¦Is your milk coming a little too quickly?
A fast let down can sometimes make feeding feel quite chaotic.
In the early days, your milk supply is still regulating. Your body is essentially producing very generously while it learns what your baby actually needs, so a fast or forceful let down can be really common at this stage.
Baby might gulp, cough, splutter, pull away, click, or seem like they’re struggling to keep up with the flow.
One thing that can really help is changing position. A more laid back position uses gravity to slow things down a little and can give baby more control over the milk flow.
For many people, things settle as supply regulates and baby gets bigger and more able to manage the flow.
If feeds are regularly difficult or you’re unsure what’s going on, get some feeding support so the whole feed can be looked at properly.
