Here is another glimpse into our Meet the Plants Day last weekend.

With the rain keeping us in the Arcade Tent most of the time, there weren't as many quiet, restful moments for adults as we hoped. But as you can see, they had as much fun and entertainment as the kids!

🌿 Preparations are underway for Meet the Plants…

The plants are getting ready. The humans are getting ready. Some of the harvest is even managing to survive Heidi. 😆

Next Sunday we'll be tasting, making, printing, storytelling, exploring — and finding out what we discover when we spend a little more time getting to know the plants growing around us.

🌱 All ages welcome — genuinely! Come with family, friends, grandparents, children, or just yourself.

🌿 What might we discover if we really get to know the plants around us?

Plants sense, respond, adapt, communicate and create. And humans have been building relationships with them — as food, medicine, story, beauty and companions — for a very long time.

On Sunday 27 September, we're bringing all ages together on the GrowFree land to explore some of the different ways we can know a plant: through observation and shared knowledge, but also through our senses, stories, tasting, making, play and simply spending time together.

We'll be meeting plants like Hawthorn, Nettle and Elder, creating with plants, tasting teas, sharing stories and helping to survey and map what's already growing on the GrowFree land. 🌱

Come with children, parents, grandparents, friends — or simply come yourself. All ages genuinely welcome.

It matters whether we say control or power.
It matters whether we say “I can’t” or “I haven’t.”
It matters whether the story we’re telling features us as helpless in the face of what’s happening, or as someone with choice and the capacity to respond in new ways.

And it matters that we don’t try to trick ourselves into believing a nicer story just because it sounds more positive.
The story has to be one we can actually feel in our bodies as reassurance, care and support.

One that allows us to feel what is actually here — fear, grief, anger, uncertainty — without making the story that comes from those feelings the whole truth.

These can look like tiny differences in language.

But our stories are being felt in our bodies.

And the state of our bodies is influencing the stories we tell.

This is some of what Jon, Heidi and I mean by Storying for Safety.
Tomorrow evening we’re going to explore it together — how our stories and nervous systems shape one another, and how nature can help us find perspectives that don't deny what is happening but give us more capacity to meet it.

Hello everyone 🌑

We’re currently moving through Moon 2 of the 13 Moon cycle: the Lunar Moon of Challenge.
It’s where the dream meets life:
What we want and what we don’t want.
The possibility and the practical reality.
Our needs and the needs of others.

It can feel as though what we don’t want is being held and shaken up right in front of us.

The tension’s here to help us test the dream not tell us we’re doing it all wrong – to help us clarify what matters and find a more intelligent way forward.

In other words, this part of the cycle is designed to be (in)tense.

Does that ring any bells for you? Is a dream or possibility meeting the more messy reality in your life just now?

Was it too late to pick Mugwort?

That was a question that Emma B was asking this week. And apparently not. Which feels rather appropriate this week. 🌿

As a bitter nervine, Mugwort was in her mind as a plant ally for our NEXT LEVEL FREEDOM: Storying for Safety Webinar:

In herbal terms, those are two of the qualities that make her such an interesting ally if you show her respect. Bitter, aromatic, powerful and traditionally used to move stagnant matter and energy through the body, she also supports the nervous system while doing so.

And here she was, still offering herself even though despite the story of being “too late” to harvest her this year.

So much of what we're calling Storying for Safety is noticing stories like 'I've missed it. I'm behind. It's too late. I should have done this by now' — and discovering what becomes possible when our nervous system is supported to feel safe enough not to have to keep living inside them.

Mugwort has long been associated with dreams, thresholds and transitions too, which makes her feel like a rather wonderful plant ally for moving into our NEXT LEVEL FREEDOM. 🌿

This reel was recorded today — lying on the grass, after giving herself permission to leave the to-do list, take her daughter sailing, have a brilliant time and rest.

A few days before, our co-founder Emma’s nervous system was telling her she was behind, there was too much to do, she needed to work harder… and things were starting to feel like a bit of an emergency.

Nothing dramatic had changed in her circumstances. But something had changed in the story her body was living inside.
By listening to what was underneath the urgency, recognising an old survival story, and reconnecting with the wider truth of now — I have support. I have choices. I don’t have to do everything at once. I’m allowed to enjoy my life while I build the things that matter to me — her body began to respond too.

This is what Emma means by Storying for Safety.

It’s also what we’ll be exploring together in our FREE Storying for Safety webinar — the fascinating relationship between story, archetype and the nervous system, and how these can become resources for greater safety, connection and choice.
