BACKGROUND

Having taught extreme sports around the world (skiing and diving), Sophia initially did Pilates for ten years before coming to Power Yoga during her PhD studies in Marine Biology. Yoga helped her find balance between real life, fitness, mindfulness, and exploring our spirituality and energy systems. Sophia is now committed to sharing its many benefits in a no-nonsense approach, with a teaching style that is accessible, grounded, engaging and inspiring. CERTIFICATIONS

It’s a good day to be alive.

After I lost my guiding star, my dad, two years ago today, I made all the permanent changes I had been preparing for my whole life.

I moved to a hot country, with diving and kiting and people with fire in their blood. I went to a new town alone with only a few acquaintances from the previous year. But I wasn’t nervous, not even for a second. I’ve travelled alone all life.

What I have learnt is to get comfortable with compromise and learning slow to stop feeling bad for everyone else when I ask for my needs to be met.

Grateful for fitness and even for the last few weeks I’ve not felt like moving much. I know I needed rest to let life stuff move through me.

I’m lucky I continue to have a healthy relationship with food, so I choose daily to nourish myself, and have never really struggled to speak with my own authentic voice. I’m grateful for the lessons my father taught me and which carry me forward. I’m even thankful for screaming his name as I came round from an anaesthetic last month; it showed how strongly I loved him.

I love you and miss you my popsies. I live my life now fully and am learning to manage stress without so much panic. Your passing humbled me and threw me and my world turned upside down. But now I move forward with courage and love.

The anchor you held for me has been released as I navigate what it feels like to truly anchor myself. If you have the means to change your life, just do it. 🦸🏻‍♀️♥️🏴‍☠️

How much of what you do is habit? How much is actually conscious choice?

Each movement matters. Each movement is the result of a conscious, specific, and detailed brain signal.

Swiping:
1. Shoulders open and scapula stable. Hips back to heel. Toes awake.
2. Hips move forward as thigh/hip flexor flexibility allows. Core stays awake. Toes stay awake. Shoulder blades drive the heart open and forwards.
3. Heart is open and internal gaze faces the exact same direction. Spine and neck stay aligned. Core stays strong to access true flexibility of quads and hip flexors. Back is alive. Toes are alive. Prana can flow and you are awake.

Details matter. Strength connection builds true flexibility, not loose mobility and likely chronic injury. Online sessions available. How do you move?

Got to remember who you are, what you love, what inspires you, and tap into how you feel when you’re in a flow state where nothing else matters. Because that’s your centre and it’s actually rock solid 💪🏼.

None of us can have it all. But we can be so grateful for the things we are blessed with. And I am blessed with freedom, and a big, playful, open heart. 🥳🎪🏄🏾‍♀️

Yoga teaches us , non grasping, and we all know comparison is the thief of joy. So try to be grateful for the things you have you know others would love, and equally try not to crave the things you think you should have or want (by now).

My 30-day Yoga Programme will start next week, 10th January. I needed a few days to settle in Zanzibar and get my head sorted to focus and create.
