Hi,dear friends and fellow space travellers. Our space is evolving.

This summer, the physical studio is getting a gentle facelift, and this rather sleepy page is waking up too (hopefully without needing too much coffee or a dramatic identity crisis:)).

I’m officially renaming it MILightSpace: a name that feels less like a label and more like a warm heartbeat.

Looking back over the last decade, I feel so much gratitude for the journey that brought me here: from the vibrant energy of **The Hungry Artist, our York cultural and wellbeing hub, through the ArtSpectRoom at Bar Lane Studios, to creating LitArt lamps during lockdowns, and working as a therapeutic guide through MiRoSoma Integrative Therapy.

Each chapter has taught me something about light not only as something we see, but as something that helps us grow, soften, orient, and become.

The name came quietly, on a golden afternoon during Litha, the summer solstice. As I sat in the stillness of the brightest day of the year, an unexpected visitor appeared in my room:
A bat!

My first thought was, naturally: "Has this little fellow lost its Google Calendar? It’s not the 31st of October, yet!".

But in the bright midsummer light, this creature of twilight felt like a messenger. It woke something in me and invited me to reflect on light and darkness -on clarity, presence, playfulness, courage, and the gentle work of reconnecting with ourselves.

Because sometimes light is not about avoiding the dark.

Sometimes it is about learning to see within it.

Some light dazzles. Some light guides. And some light helps us recognise ourselves again.

So, MILightSpace is becoming a living studio for art explorations, healing, reflection, creativity, and gentle alchemical transformation. A space where we can pause, repair, imagine, reconnect, and turn toward the light together.

And honestly, I’d love to reconnect with you too - old friends, fellow creatives, past visitors, quiet followers, and curious new space travellers.

This page has been dormant for a while, so if you’re still here, please give it a little love: a like, a comment, a wave, a bat emoji, or just tell me -
What lights you up today? ✨

As someone dedicated to holistic support for people with with symptoms of ADHD and women going through peri-menopause, with brain fog and attention issues,I’m excited to share this powerful new finding in neuroscience that could reshape how we understand and treat attention-related challenges.
A recent study reveals that norepinephrine—a key chemical involved in focus and alertness—doesn’t act directly on neurons as long believed. Instead, it influences the brain through ASTROCYNE (lovely name :-)), star-shaped support cells that play an active role in reorganizing brain connectivity. This discovery is a game-changer! Even when neurons are blocked from sensing norepinephrine, the shift in brain communication still happens—as long as the astrocytes are functional.
It suggests that attention is shaped not just through neuron activity, but also through the subtle support systems in the brain. This opens up promising new avenues for managing symptoms—not only through medication, but by targeting the mind-body connection, calming the nervous system, and supporting overall brain health.
From my experience and In my work with clients, I’ve seen how solution-focused hypnotherapy, somatic practices, and creative therapies help regulate emotions , attention and bring clarity naturally. This research provides a deeper biological foundation for why holistic approaches can be so effective.
Let’s continue to honour the brain’s complexity and explore holistic integrative support beyond traditional paths.

Astrocytes, Not Neurons, Drive Brain’s Attention and Alertness

A groundbreaking study has revealed that norepinephrine, a key chemical in attention and alertness, reshapes brain connectivity not by acting directly on neurons, but through astrocytes.

These star-shaped support cells detect norepinephrine and release a second chemical messenger that dampens synaptic activity, reorganizing how neurons communicate.

Even when neurons are blocked from sensing norepinephrine, this effect persists—so long as astrocytes remain functional.

This discovery overturns decades of assumptions in neuroscience and highlights astrocytes as active players in cognitive processes.

It also opens new therapeutic avenues, especially for attention and mood disorders traditionally treated with neuron-targeting drugs.

✨ Woman’s Self-Care: More Than Just a Luxury ✨

Life demands so much from us as women—we strive to be efficient at work, calm and collected, loving partners, caring mothers, and, of course, effortlessly beautiful. But the pressure to excel in all these roles at once comes at a cost.

Unattended exhaustion, chronic stress, and burnout creep in. I’ve been there. We all have. And before we know it, the "perfect" life we’re building begins to crumble. We start again and again—until our bodies force us to stop through illness.

Neuroscience confirms what ancient wisdom has always known: our mind and body are deeply connected. So, what can we do?

🌿 The first step is developing a healthy self-care toolbox—one that works for YOU. Whether it’s:

✨ Breathwork,
Hypnotherapy,
,EFT/TFT tapping

✨ Qigong & yoga or
Movement medicine

✨ Vocal or other expressive arts therapy

There’s no one-size-fits-all, but your healing journey starts with prioritizing yourself.

💫 Exciting news! We’re launching a Women’s Support Group soon—a safe, nurturing community to heal, grow, and build resilience together. So take a deep breath in 🫁and out with relief😄🫂💆‍♂️❤️
And
Stay tuned!

Drop a ❤️ and comment if this resonates, and let’s talk about self-care!
