September and the start of the new school year can mean many things for many people.
As a home educating family, who roughly follow the school year, it is a time of newness. Exploring new opportunities and interests, perhaps joining new groups.

Home educating can be exhausting, so perhaps it is also time to start something new for yourself? A way to help you stay calm when you have spent hours finding resources only for your child to say they aren't interested in that any more. A new habit to give yourself a break. A new family activity to help you all when tempers fray.

If this sounds interesting get in touch.

There is something I love about being somewhere vast like Bolberry Down so it felt like the perfect place to practice some gratitude.

Its that time of the week where I look back at the good things. Our natural negativity bias often means that the small glimmers can be forgotten but regularly reflecting on the good stuff can help us remember it, and also makes us feel good too!

Its been a busy week this week with family visiting so here's my list....

❤️ I held a family/kids activity stand at Chillington Village Fair. It was so much fun!

❤️ Gorgeous evening skies and a bit of nature connection thrown in too!

❤️ Family beach trip!

❤️ Family trip to Pennywell Farm - look at how cute my new friend is!

What has made you smile this week?

A super simple activity to do with kids to help them think about being grateful.

Simply draw a basic tree shape, don't worry too much about the branches, they end up covered anyway.

Draw some basic leaf shapes, or draw round a template like I did (I cannot draw - see evidence below 😂) or if print some leaf shapes.

Write one thing you are grateful for on each leaf. Remember, it doesn't have to be big things, we can be grateful for the small things too.

Stick them on.

Decorate the rest of your picture. I chose a cute little bee and butterfly.

Done!

(Oh, and if you want to do this but don't want to clean up the mess, come along to Create Calm on Saturday 29th, 9.30am in Chillington Village Hall where I'll have this and other fun, creative activities and I do all the tidying up all for just £8 per family!)
