Diabetes Awareness Week takes place from 8th to 14th June 2026. It is an annual campaign to increase understanding about diabetes, its challenges, and its impact on individuals and families. According to a Diabetes UK survey, 8 out of 10 people living with diabetes say they’ve faced negative attitudes because of their diabetes.

If you have diabetes, you will receive an invitation for an annual health check at the GP Practice with the Practice Nurse to tell you how diabetes is affecting your body. It is important you book an appointment when invited for this review.

🟠 May is Skin Cancer awareness month.

This Bank Holiday the weather is forecast to be sunny. Enjoy your weekend and follow Tommy’s top tips to stay protected against the sun:

☀️ Wear SPF 30+ Suncream (no suncream offers complete protection so it should be used with other lines of defence)

👕 Consider a t-shirt and hat, even when in the water (especially for children) Cover as much skin as possible

🕶 Wear sunglasses, UV radiation can also damage your eyes

🧊 Keep cool in the shade
