If you’re struggling to find joy in life right now, try something that might feel a little unfamiliar… play.

Not productively. Not perfectly. Just play. Like you did when you were a child.

Run without a destination. Laugh at something silly. Create something that doesn’t need to be shared. Let yourself be curious instead of critical.

As children, we didn’t need a reason to feel joy, we allowed it. Somewhere along the way, many of us learned to replace play with pressure.

Joy doesn’t always come from fixing your life. Sometimes it comes from stepping out of “serious mode” and giving yourself permission to feel light again.

It might feel small. It might feel strange. But it’s a start.

Monday Musings

You don’t get to numb the hard feelings without also dulling the good ones.
Sadness, anger, fear..
They’re not problems to fix, they’re experiences to move through. When you let yourself feel them fully (without judging or pushing them away), something shifts.

Your body processes, releases, and makes space again.
And in that space? That’s where joy lives. That’s where pleasure, connection, and lightness come back in.
Feeling everything doesn’t make you weaker, it makes you more alive.

Anxiety and overwhelm happen when we spend a lot of time in our heads. We unconsciously perpetuate the fear by staying in our heads. We often think we're helping the situation by thinking things through, trying to find a solution. But the mind becomes a jumbled mess.

We can't see the wood for the trees. And then, when we're not able to think clearly or find a solution, the anxiety kicks in.

Journalling is a great way of untangling those thoughts and will help you to gain clarity, even a different perspective. But to help soothe our nervous system, which is usually hyper sensitive by the time anxiety kicks in, we need to come back to our bodies.

Movement is medicine.

When we allow some movement into our bodies, it will help you to shift through some of that pent up Energy that has left you feeling out of sorts. Your body will hold on to and store negative energy. It's often why we feel heavy and sluggish.

Shake those bodies, move those limbs. Bring all your attention to your body.

Ask your body what it needs. Your first response is your body wisdom... learn to listen to that.

Maybe it needs some gentle touch and reassurance, a big duvet hug. Or maybe you feel that jittery energy buzzing through your body and you can't rest or sit still. Get up and have a big shake, like a wet dog, or stick some music on and allow for some energetic movements to happen.

Get out of those heads and into those bodies!! 🕺🏼 💃🏼

Anxiety: Your Brain’s Overprotective Bodyguard

Have you ever noticed how anxiety shows up like a security guard who drank way too much coffee?

Anxiety's job is to keep you safe.

Thousands of years ago, anxiety helped humans avoid real dangers like predators or unsafe environments. Your brain learned to scan for threats and react quickly.

The problem?

Your brain can’t always tell the difference between a tiger in the bushes and an unread email.

So what does anxiety do?

• Speeds up your heart

• Sends your thoughts racing

• Makes you want to avoid the situation

• Tries to prepare you for the “worst case scenario”

In small doses, anxiety can actually help you focus and prepare. But when it becomes constant or overwhelming, it can make everyday situations feel much bigger than they are.

A few gentle reminders:

- Anxiety is a normal human response

- Having anxiety doesn’t mean you’re weak

- Your brain is trying to protect you, even if it’s a bit overenthusiastic.

Sometimes, the most helpful step is simply learning to notice it, name it, and respond with curiosity rather than criticism.

Your brain isn’t broken, it’s just trying a little too hard to keep you safe.

And sometimes, you realise that the tiger in the bush is actually a playful little kitten.

Many women I work with don't look like they're struggling. They're capable, reliable, and the one everyone depends on.
But underneath, they feel exhausted from always being the strong one.

• Understand where the good girl pattern began
• Recognise how it shows up in your current life
• Identify the cost of it
• Begin building a more secure, more trusting adult voice

Not all healing happens through words.
Sometimes, it flows through colour, creativity, and expression 🎨✨

Art can be a safe space to feel, release, and reconnect. It can also be a really fun and empowering way of connecting to your inner child.

Healing doesn’t always happen through talking. Sometimes, it happens through creating.

Your expression matters.
Your story matters.
And healing can be creative. 💛
