This week a client shared something that really stayed with me.

They told me how they woke up talking with their partner about going clothes shopping, and how, almost instantly, that familiar dread rose in their chest.

Not because of the shops.

Not because of the crowds.

But because of the mirror.

Because of the trying-on.

Because of the fear of not recognising themselves in anything they picked up.

They described standing in a shop feeling overwhelmed, looking at rails of clothes and wondering, “What would even suit me? What would actually fit?”

At 5ft 2, with a body shape they’ve never known how to dress, shopping has always felt like something to survive, not something to enjoy.

And their relationship with their body has been complicated, tender in some places, painful in others.

But then they said something that made me pause.

“With hypnotherapy, I’m starting to be… kinder. Not fixed. Not suddenly confident. Just… kinder.”

That honesty.

That rawness.

That tiny shift towards self‑compassion, that is where change begins.

So many people carry this same quiet dread when it comes to their bodies.

🌿 Learning to Love My Body Again — With Self‑Hypnotherapy

For a long time, I thought body image was only about weight. About shrinking. About changing. But the truth is far more tender than that.

I’ve been a size 20.
I’m now a size 10.
And yet, some days I still look in the mirror and think I’m “fat.”
I still put on clothes and don’t always like what I see.

Changing my body didn’t automatically change the way I felt about my body.

What has helped is something quieter, deeper, and far more compassionate:
self‑hypnotherapy.

It’s helped me reconnect with my body instead of judging it.
It’s helped me soften the old stories that told me I wasn’t enough.
It’s helped me feel safe in my own skin again.

Self‑hypnotherapy hasn’t made me “love every inch” overnight.
But it has helped me create moments of peace, acceptance, and kindness toward myself, moments that are becoming more frequent, more natural, more real.

I’m starting to love myself again.
Not because of a number.
Not because of a size.
But because I’m learning to listen to my body instead of fighting it.

Body image healing is an inside job.
It’s about safety, compassion, and rewriting the beliefs we’ve carried for years.
