MEMORISE

MESSAGE

Parenting is not an easy task; it is a demanding and challenging responsibility. The moment God gives a fellow a child, He has given that fellow an assignment, and the assignment is to train the child in a godly manner. Proverbs 22:6 says, "Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it."

Nowadays, parents often allow television, social media, and other forms of entertainment to shape their children's lives. Sadly, what they do not know is that there are numerous evils out there waiting to destroy the lives of children all over the world. This is why parents cannot afford to be careless. They must ensure that they shield their children from the deadly and demonic influencers that are out to destroy them and make them deviate from God's purpose for their lives.

If you are a parent, then you are your children's first role model. Children are very observant; they typically remember what they see more than what they hear. They observe the actions of their parents at home and tend to replicate them. Therefore, you must ensure that you exhibit Christlike attributes at all times if you really want to train your children in the way of the Lord. I remember an occasion when a group of children were asked to sing a worship song each. When it was the turn of a particular woman's children, the three of them were unable to sing a worship song. I later discovered that their mother could also not sing a single worship song. Children typically imitate what they see their parents do, rather than what they are told to do.

Some parents live so carelessly that they make it easy for the devil to visit their children. For example, if a parent feasts on immoral pictures and videos daily, it will be hard to protect his or her children from the sinful influences of the world. Also, if a parent watches skits and videos where vulgar language is used, the parent will find it difficult to shield his or her children from corrupt speech.

Beloved, a city without walls cannot protect its inhabitants. If you are a parent, do not be like a city without walls for your children. Take your relationship with God seriously so that He can fortify, empower, and teach you how to train them up in the way they should go.

KEY POINT

Parents should exhibit Christlike attributes that their children can emulate.

MESSAGE
The word of God is a mighty shield that defends us from negative things. Today's memory verse tells us that God's word heals and delivers from destruction. This means that when the enemy wants to destroy you, God will send His word, and His word will shield you form the enemy's attacks.

If you are trusting God for the fruit of the womb, I want you to believe that your testimony is around the corner. This is because God has shielded you from barrenness through His word. In Exodus 23:26, He says:

There shall nothing cast their young, nor be barren, in thy land: the number of thy days I will fulfil.

Also, God shields His children from poverty through His word. 3 John 2 says, "Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth." In other words, no matter how tough and challenging your situation might be at the moment, God's word to you is that you will be healthy and prosperous. Through His word, God shields His children from lack and hunger. Psalm 23:1 says, The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. “Through the word of God, you are reassured that the Lord is your shepherd, and with Him, you have everything you need. No need will arise in your life and remain unmet because Jesus, the Good Shepherd, is for you. Psalm 84:11 says that the Lord will not withhold any good thing from those who walk uprightly. God will see to it that before a need arises, there is more than enough provision to meet it. Beloved, I pray that in any area you may be experiencing lack, your eyes will be opened to see God's abundant provisions for you, in Jesus' name.

Another thing that God's word shields believers from is abandonment and loneliness. Jesus said in John 14:18 that He will not leave you comfortless. He also said in Hebrews 13:5 that He will never leave nor forsake you. This means that even if your parents or friends forsake you; He will always be with you.

Beloved, to be shielded by the word of God, you must know what He has said concerning you and truly believe it. A weapon you are ignorant of, or fail to use, cannot benefit you. Therefore, make it your daily practice to meditate on God's word and obey it, for in doing so, you will enjoy His covering at all times.

God's word is a shield to those who know and obey it.

9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:

10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;

11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Message

Names are very powerful; they reveal many things about a person. For example, if you meet someone who bears the surname of the president of your country, you will be curious to know whether he or she is related to the president or not. When you discover that such a person is related to the president, you will automatically think that he or she is wealthy, influential, and has direct access to the president. This is also what obtains in our relationship with God. When a person is born again, he or she becomes a child of God. Such a person automatically takes on God's name and has unhindered access to Him.

I still remember the first time a Head of State invited me to his home. When I arrived at the first gate, I was asked where I was going, and I replied, "The president asked me to come and see him." The security personnel then checked their records to confirm my invitation. I scaled through the first gate, and when I got to the second gate, I was thoroughly checked. I got to the third gate, and the same check was carried out on me, despite the fact that the personnel at the gate saw that I had been checked at the second gate. When I moved on to the fourth gate, I said, "Oh God, I thank You because I have Jesus. I thank You because anytime I want to talk to You, all I have to say is 'in the name of Jesus." No matter how pressing an issue is, all I need to say is 'in Jesus' name'
and God's ears will be open to my cry.

God's name also shields believers from the enemy's attacks. Proverbs 18:10 tells us that: "The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe." In other words, if enemies are pursuing you, you can call on the name of the Lord; His name will become a strong tower around you, and the enemy will not be able to harm you. The Bible says in Psalm 27:1-3 that if your enemies are running after you and are about to catch up, they will stumble and fall. As we see in today's Bible reading, every knee shall bow at the name of Jesus! I decree that the name of the Lord will be your shield, delivering you and your family from every attack of the enemy, in Jesus' name.

Prayer Point:

The name of the Lord shields believers from danger and gives them access to the Father.

MESSAGE

Growing up, my father was so poor that even poor people called him poor. However, at that time, I had a friend whose father was poorer than mine. As poor as my father was, he was still able to gather enough money to send me to school for the first two years of my studies. This friend of mine, on the other hand, could not even enrol in school because his father had no money to sponsor him.

Whenever other children went to school, my friend would go around looking for a place to work. One day, someone gave him a task to clear a piece of land outside the town. While he was working, he struck something that was buried in the ground, and when he checked it, he discovered that it was a large pot filled with gold coins. The pot must have been buried several years before then, when people preferred to bury their valuables rather than take them to banks.

When my friend picked up the pot, he looked left and right, but there was nobody around him. Then, he took all the coins and went home. He took one of the coins to a goldsmith, who examined it and told him how much he was willing to pay for it. The amount was so huge that the boy exclaimed, "Ah!" The goldsmith thought that the boy knew the true value of the coin and that his exclamation was because he knew he was about to be cheated, so he said, "Alright, I will pay you double." The boy responded again, "Ah, ah!" The goldsmith continued to bargain, and eventually, he promised to pay him five times the initial offer. The boy could not believe his luck. The goldsmith asked further, "Do you have more?" The boy replied, "Yes." Not long after that, my friend left the village because he had now become very wealthy.

Beloved, just one divine breakthrough can transform your life for good. One of my spiritual sons lost his job, and God told him to start selling peanuts. God's instruction, however, was for him to fry the peanuts with honey. From selling peanuts, he became so wealthy that he was able to buy private jets. When God gives you a breakthrough, you will move to a level you never even thought you could attain. However, to get that breakthrough from God, you must be intimate with Him enough to hear His instructions and obey them.

PRAYER POINT
Lord, please open my eyes to see where my breakthrough is, in Jesus' name.

14 Nebuchadnezzar spake and said unto them, Is it true, O Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, do not ye serve my gods, nor worship the golden image which I have set up?

15 Now if ye be ready that at what time ye hear the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, and dulcimer, and all kinds of musick, ye fall down and worship the image which I have made; well: but if ye worship not, ye shall be cast the same hour into the midst of a burning fiery furnace; and who is that God that shall deliver you out of my hands?

16 Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, answered and said to the king, O Nebuchadnezzar, we are not careful to answer thee in this matter.

MESSAGE

There is no limit to God's power. Mark 11:22-24 says that if you have faith, you can speak to a mountain, and it will move. Today's memory verse also tells us that before the mountains were brought forth, God was.

Our God is eternal, and there is no searching of His understanding. If you have faith in the One who was there even before mountains were formed, He can uproot any challenge that poses as a mountain in your life.

There are, however, times when you speak to a mountain in your life, and it doesn't seem to move.

This is because God knows that you can climb that mountain and emerge victorious. God will not place a mountain which you cannot climb before you. When you read the book of Job, you will see that long before Job's problems came, God already knew that he would overcome them.

Beloved, God will not make you go through a challenge you cannot overcome. (1 Corinthians 10:13) says: "There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it." If God allows a mountain to stand in your path, it is because you are about to experience a greater level of glory.

For example, it is expected that students will typically be assessed before they are promoted to a higher level or class. In today's Bible reading, the three Hebrew boys passed their test by refusing to bow down to the golden image, even at the risk of being burned to death, and God promoted them. Job 42:12-16 also tells us how God promoted Job after his ordeal.

I am sure that the devil would have wished he had left Job alone, as the latter part of his life was more glorious than his beginning.

Child of God, if God allows you to face a mountain, it is because He wants to move you to the next phase of your life after you overcome that mountain. No matter the size or height of the mountain standing before you today, ask God to help you to surmount it, and you will emerge victorious in the end.

I decree that you shall overcome all mountains standing before you today, in Jesus' name.

KEY POINT

If God allows a mountain to form in your life, it is because He knows that you can climb it.

*11. And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.*

*12. The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.*

*13. Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying.*

*MESSAGE:*

*Jesus can return at any time. This is why my wife and I ensure that we settle any misunderstandings between us before we go to sleep, because we don't want to be left behind. I don't want anything to keep me from going with the Lord when He returns.*

*In today's memory verse, Paul urges us not to allow the sun to go down upon our wrath. Never go to sleep angry or with grudges in your heart. Do not let anger fester, for it can create a barrier between you and God. Ephesians 4:31 says that you should put away all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamour, evil speaking, and malice. Cast them off because they will keep you from going with the Lord when He returns.*

*Child of God, settle any issues you have with others quickly so they do not hinder you from being a partaker of God's Kingdom when He returns. If you find it very easy to keep a grudge, run to God for help today. Ask Him for the grace to forgive those who offend you, even if they have not asked for your forgiveness. Do not allow offence or anything at all to separate you from the Lord for eternity.*

*For believers, death is merely like falling asleep because a glorious eternity awaits us (1 Thessalonians 4:13). For those living in sin, however, eternal damnation awaits them after death (Hebrews 9:27, Revelation 21:8). This is why you must live your life prepared to meet the Lord at any time. Settle every matter as quickly as possible because you do not know the moment when your eternal sleep will begin.*

*One man of God said that the Sunday after the rapture, some churches will still be full. The pastors will still be there to preach, but this time around, their preaching will not be casual. They will stand on their pulpits and say, "I knew this event was going to happen, but I didn't prepare myself and this congregation for it." They might apologise to the congregation who will be left behind, but their apologies will be useless at that point.*
